The laughable aspect of this is teams from the non-league are expelled for playing an ineligible player, yet Liverpool only receives a fine. Definitely not a level playing field.

It's harsh but rules are rules. The FA don't take any prisoners with any breach of rules regarding player ineligibility in this competition, my beloved Bromley found this out the hard way last season when we got kicked out
@Ramtamtama

We got kicked out of the FA Cup for playing a player who was suspended. The funny thing is that he was only suspended from County-administered (ie league) matches, not national. Until the following day when it suddenly changed to All Football as of the Saturday. So we were kicked out for playing a suspended player who wasn't suspended but then became suspended retroactively

I know at least two welsh Uni teams (Cardiff Met Uni and Swansea Uni) play in the welsh domestic leagues
@Rosetheromani
@Rosetheromani 4 жыл бұрын
In fact Cardiff Met Uni this year represented Wales in the Europa League. They play in the Cymru Premier League. Swansea University FC plays in Cymru South, which is the second tier of Welsh Football. So maybe this is the issue not that they played for a university in another country but that the University played in a national competition outside of England.

And all universities compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sports Association (BUCS), which is a UK-wide organisation and isn't affiliated to any FA. But if you play in a competition sanctioned by an FA, you need clearance

Used to play for Willand. The lad is absolutely gutted. Very very poor from the FA, the clubs infrastructure and youth has improved massively since the FA cup run. Shame this has happened.

Did I hear you correctly and did you imply that if Cardiff, Swansea, Newport or Wrexham or even Merthyr Town buy or sell players from or to another club in the English FA, that international transfers have to be completed? If that is the case did that mean when Cardiff and Swansea were in the premier league that they needed 8 welsh homegrown players in their squad of 25? Is this the thin end of the wedge, where the FA might be trying to physically separate English and Welsh football. Start in the lower leagues or the FA Trophy early rounds, set the precedence and then move up the leagues.

Bedfont are undergoing an FA investigation whilst remaining in this competition. I think their rules are harsher though when the club that gets reinstated into the competition as a result of these circumstances are not even the ones that the ineligible player was fielded against. I.E Grays earlier this season when they were thrown out of the FA Cup for Fielding an ineligible player against Heybridge Swifts and yet it was March Town United that were reinstated f due to being the ones that Grays had last played. In this circumstance I would have suggested that March Town and Heybridge play off for the right to travel to Kingstonian in the 2ND qualifying round.

It does seem harsh, I know rules are rules but The Fa seem to have lost the view that theses teams are very much just community teams. Football is the simplest of sports, one ball and jumpers for goal posts. As soon as people in suits get involved the whole thing just seems to get very messy. If only they put as much time in to sorting out racism in the premier league as they did checking to see if some lad played in Wales three years ago 🙄

That’s really harsh on Willand!!!! Pathetic rule!! Why don’t the FA have a rule that a player’s international clearance should be submitted at the same time of his registration being lodged.

What's the point of international clearance?
@mattpotter8725
@mattpotter8725 4 жыл бұрын
It seems ridiculous that additional international clearance should be required from moving from the jurisdiction of Welsh FA to that of the English FA since both are in the UK. I know football in this country is split into 4 separate FAs, but each part of the UK is still governed by UK law isn't it? You would think in this day and age of everything being stored in databases that when a player moves from any country to any other that the system flags up whether you need to request international clearance, but it seems all still very amateurish in oversight. Has there ever been a case where a player has been eligible to play in Wales, but not in England? I doubt it. If the player has been registered for many years with the English FA, but doesn't have clearance then surely all the games he's played in should be retrospectively chalked off as well and adjustments to league positions or cup prize money. This just all seems a bit of a farce, and the oversight isn't just on the clubs, but on the FA who it sounds like had the player registered and had no problem for years.

@ifandafydd7432 4 жыл бұрын
This isn't about legal jurisdiction though, what happened wasn't a criminal offence, as you mentioned they are separate FAs so regardless of the fact it's the same sovereign state, in footballing terms England is as foreign to Wales as Uzbekistan is
@mattpotter8725
@mattpotter8725 4 жыл бұрын
@@ifandafydd7432 I understand that, but in terms of getting clearance to play, if you can legally play in Wales I can't think of any way you wouldn't be allowed to play in England, whereas if you can legally play in Uzbekistan you might need a visa, or fit certain criteria to enter the UK to be able to play, that's the point I'm making here. I know each constituent part of the UK has their own FA and players do need to be registered in each to be able to play there. This just seems like a very odd situation.

@ifandafydd7432 4 жыл бұрын
Forget Uzbekistan, that was just an example, you said you don't see why international clearance is an issue from Wales to England because you don't need a visa to move from one to another, my point is that the two criteria are unrelated, even if a footballer doesn't need a visa they will still need to get international clearance, it's nothing to do with legal status as a worker, it's just an administrative process of being taken off the register of one football association and being registered to another

@@thomaskendell8146 If there was no International clearance, because it is the same country, then as FIFA want, scrap the home nations and have a Team GB. That is why international clearance was made. Most of the top clubs can afford people to do their paperwork. However, I am thinking, that if Hereford bought a player from TNS, international clearance wouldn't be required. Different international league, but based in same country.
