Found another easy answer. You have to tap the joystick at the rhythm of the song instead of pushing it. Apparently the minigame is way too sensitive with the joysticks, so tapping it is the best solution.

This goes for a lot of minigames in this game. For example, in chocobo racing, you hold X to run while it's R2 in the over world. The timing in the sit up minigames is all messed up. The gliding chocobo in Cosmo Canyon have the camera pans up when you ascend and this obscure your FOV. I can go on and on

A big thanks to the comments in here as I tried a mixture of the suggestions. If like me, you found getting an A easy enough for the earlier tracks on setting 1, but not this one try the below: What worked for me was muting the volume and enable zoom settings to maximum to make the circles bigger and more central. Practice it on setting 2. After about 8 attempts I managed it. With the slowest setting of 1, I struggled getting anything other than a C! Not quite sure the logic to this one.

the speed isn't the issue. It is the custom arrows. They are a bit inconsistent. This can be seen at 0:11 and 0:16. These should be spaced out exactly the same but are not, which can cause you to miss the notes. However, the guide is very useful in actually learning the notes compared to trying to watch a video of just the piano part.

I animated each note in flash on a blue background and imported them in with video editing software minus the blue background. Then i arranged each one as close to the right timing as i could get it across many many layers. Each arrow is a 90 frame animation that goes behind the L or R symbol so you don't notice when one clip overlaps another.

Don't look in two places at once! Only look at the right side. Use your peripheral vision for the left side. I've star ranked all songs including the bonus so I promise this is a better way to do it. For this song when the left comes at a different time it's better to put the notes on a faster speed, because then it'll be easier to see which side comes first. This one is really hard on low speed, more doable on 2 3 or 4
