General rule for weight on the roof is consider static load, dynamic load and the manufacturers safe load limit, not a thumb in the air 200lb’s.

I love removable racks, like the Thule locking towers. Unlock then, lift them off and stick the rack in the garage until the next trip. Plus, you can interchange a full rack with, say, kayak bars with saddles, or bike bars, as needed. For another two-minute Tuesday, how about rock lights, as in the useful ones, not disco lights. How to choose them, where to mount them, and whether you can mount them on your rack and bumpers as area lights as well. Thanks for the tips.

Great vid and idea. I just recently bought the front runner full length rack. Happy with it. An idea for a future video, and a subject I keep wrestling with is front bumper. Eliminating the cool factor, I get the reason for a full bumper, I just question how often I’m really going to need it vs just a slimline bumper for a winch. I like the look of my T4R and with the weight consideration I’m at odds. Thank for the consideration on the idea. Love the vids.

Great video! Just wondering, I recently bought a Rhino Pioneer Platform. Did you cover the opening that is left when you removed the weather stripping to fit the Backbone system? Mine is currently without the rubber weather stripping and I worry about leaking. Fixes? Thanks man. Keep the vids coming.

If you don't use the gutter tracks all you have to do is cut only where the backbone mounts are for gutter

Neat idea. I've been wanting to get a roof rack, this would be my first "mod" for my 2017 4runner. The one I want is the FrontRunner slimline2. One reason I have hesitated is that I have a low garage. Stock, I have a tiny bit less than 8inches clearance from the roof stock (not including the stock rack rails), so the ~5" frontrunner should work, but should I want to get further mods I could be in trouble. Thoughts?

Derek VerLee should be a good choice! Front runner is a great company as well. Lots of good feedback.

Not hesitant to drill holes in your new truck? The whole having to drill holes has me leaning more towards the rhino rack that this fella runs.
