You could do a temporary ice bridge using an armor stand with frost walker boots like Etho did in season 6. Then you have full controller of when it drops and it fits the theme nicely. You could probably turn all of the armor stand stuff to invisible with the book I am assuming.

@laartje24
@laartje24 Жыл бұрын
The problem with these competitions is, that even if they are done purely for fun, and participants know exactly what they sing up for, people on the internet are extremely quick and ferocious with trowing a lot of blame that it is only to get the youtuber/streamer free stuff. Even if they are going out of their way to trow the event and make it fun, while they could get it done way more cheep/efficiency by just commissioning it. It has gotten to a point that most don't even wanna deal with community events anymore. It is really sad that we can't have nice things because of that. I have to specify, it are not the artists who trow blame, it are people outside the art community. Even if the artist make statements that they were treated perfectly, the toxic outside people don't listen.

@jasonreed7522
@jasonreed7522 Жыл бұрын
@@AJ-Palermo every level will already need about 6-8 blocks worth of "access space" for him to run all the redstone guts and run around refilling stuff. (Just like how the original decked out had a decent amount of space around the actual game space) But considering the warden detects in a 16block radius and shoots upto 20blocks vertically I don't think the reasonable maintenance spacing is sufficient. (It also doesn't seem fair to be shot from a warden on a different floor from you) So i guess Tango better get an auto wool farm going because his maintenance floors are going to need to be made from it. He also will need to decide how the paths between level 2 & 3 will work so that the player doesn't have a refuge but the wardens and ravagers don't interact. (Probably bubblevators are the best bet)
@Dilbet

@eaglegosuperskarmor Жыл бұрын
couple of ideas: In addition to paths closing off with high hazard, on the first floor you could have sections that players can fit through that ravagers can't, but open up to let ravagers through at high hazard. second idea I had would be to drop snowballs on occasion on the first/second floors for use against the warden, so the player has to pick them up while travelling to the third/fourth floor but once they get there it's a limited supply to distract the warden
@amaryllis0
@amaryllis0 Жыл бұрын
Now that you've lowered the water level of the icy river, you could add back in the powdered snow border idea? And maybe you'll be able to hide a frost-walker-armor-stand-pushing contraption under the snow layers? Honestly I think the 'wow factor' of giving the players a fancy experience is underrated! I made a vanilla redstone adventure map inspired by Decked Out 1, and my favourite things were those moments that aim to impress the player with a spectacle, like draining a whirlpool which was previously an obstacle so you can dive down the maw; finding a secret lab and opening up a wall which looks onto the central chamber, when it appeared as just a plain cave wall from the other side; a creepy manor whose door slams shut behind you when you enter; a deep cave suddenly opening up onto an underground village; a volcanic geyser that randomly erupts, and whose eruptions you ride the wave of to escape the depths; a cave which suddenly lights up as you approach to reveal an imposing serpent who you can talk to by selecting responses from a dispenser

FINALLY! SOMEONE DOES IT RIGHT! The quests work as follows you 1- look for a quest. 2- once you find a quest you put your head in the slot of the pumpkin, you then complete the quest in the same episode on camera!!!! You then take the crystal, leave your head (how do people not understand that part) and put the pumpkin into the barrel and take one shard. Of course, once you have a shard you add it to The Arch of the Champions.

Not sure if it was a plan or not already; but instead of having to hide a ton of shulkers every week like you did previously, perhaps you can incorporate decked out boxes with the hermit quests? I'm sure KingRen would approve, and this way you could more easily make a bulk amount of boxes, and spend less time having to hide them, which might even allow you some time to enjoy the game yourself! You could still hide a few of course, but the main way to get them be from quests, its also a great alternative as the diamond pool begins to run out for quests.

Blue shell idea: Give the strongest sabotage cards exclusively from a failed run (in a section in the skill(did you rename it?) shop itself). This both offers a consolation prize to those who aren't as good (scar/not etho) and gives them more reson to stay involved. For the more experienced player it becomes a metagame decision whether to throw a run for sabotage cards?

Advice from me is start thinking of piston based contraptions, they’ll be your best friend when it comes to an “alive” feeling dungeon that shifts with each passing intruder Research stuff like double and triple piston extenders, flush and hidden red stone designs, and piston feed tapes to create seemingly impossible appearing and disappearing walls, platforms, and doors For instance, a piston extender can easily be hidden under lava, possibly to make a tall platform appear out of it. Fence gates can be placed inside a piston feed tape for a very fancy large door that can dramatically lower block by block until it shuts

Hey Tango, unsure if you read your comments. As a software engineer, something that we do is focus on always having a releasable product, even if the deliverable isn't 100% of our final image. This allows us to ship deliverables early and often, getting our products into the hands of our users way earlier than if we had waited for the final product. This further allows us to get feedback on our "v1" which helps us to learn and make redesigns that affect future versions (earlier than if we had waited for the full final product). In this case, we'd, metaphorically, be able to build, deploy, and ship a single floor of Decked Out, while building it with the final product in mind, and leaving room for refactoring and incorporating any yet-made learnings. We'd ship the first slice of the game (possibly just first floor, or a single zone with all gameplay mechanics, or the entire dungeon but without all of the mechanics implemented yet), allow players to play and enjoy it, gather their feedback, all while continuing to build the next modular piece of the game (2nd floor, etc). We continue this trend, constantly gathering feedback, making learnings, and constantly shipping deliverable value months ahead of if we had gone with the conventional plan-build-test-ship in phases of the old school style. I hope that you can incorporate this wisdom into how you build your game. I suggest breaking it into smaller, deliverable pieces, and releasing it in phases, rather than making everyone wait until the end. You'll get feedback faster, people will be able to play it sooner, and you'll make learnings that might help prevent some mistakes that you would have otherwise only seen after completion. Cheers!

I've had a though that perhaps there are multiple ways to different levels. Most would function as traps dragging the player upwards or downwards but could be used by a smart one to speed up their journey. Depending on Hazard some of these passages will themselves be trapped or will close up altogether. The river for instance, if you fall too deep, could drag you down one or two levels. These passages could also end in dangerous rooms to discourage use of them. The safest route would be by the default way that places you in a relatively safe room.

Lichen farm: stand on a slab, sneak, and aim down the edge of a dispenser so you point at both top and bottom lichens. You'll harvest all 6 before the next pulse.

sneak so you don't accidently enter the dispenser instead of harvest the bottom lichens.

Great video tango! As a suggestion, maybe you could ask the King to create a Decked out tribute quest into the quest dungeon? so people can help donate supplies to the build, or quests to help with farms/interior decorating and maybe you could supply the rewards?

Soul sand next to water makes it incredibly hard to move quickly, since soul sand isn't a full block if you walk to the edge of it, it triggers walking in water speed + soul sand speed. Maybe not for the river jump but in other places it could be an effective slowing obstacle.

Hey Tango, have you figured out a way to make sure the wardens and ravagers from clumping up for decked out 2? Then distribute them back to a starting area for each? Perhaps for the wardens you could have a line of noteblocks go a certain way to the warden collection area (think like the lines on the floor that helps people find their way but would be sound for the wardens to follow). Then once all are collected they get redistributed throughout the level they are a part of. Could do something similar for ravagers but just have some silenced bait villagers or something for them to get collected. I just remember you having a slight problem with ravagers in the original decked out. So hopefully you already have something planned for it or maybe my ideas help! I look forward to each new episode cause it's gonna be awesome!

I really like the ice box design... I'm totally stealing that for my world :) Though I think I'll invert the icebox itself, so that it's pushing down, this way you don't need all the observers, and would allow for a collection system below. Can't wait to see how the new Decked Out turns out. You're a mad genius!

use powdered snow around the edges of the river so they can't jump over at certain spots. And you get the visuals of a full block
