Two new Kubey knives and a Deejo. KU203 and KU237

I was wrong in this video, and the Kubey blades have no coating on them, just a really smooth blasted finish.

Solid Kubeys! Really digging that larger tanto. And the price is great! That'll be a great user. I didn't know they were coated, I always thought it was blasted by some media. The Deejo looks interesting, slim and minimalist. Cool knife!

Boy those Deejo knives have some sweet designs on the blades and they have them in like 3 different sizes. Very, very cool. I’ve been eyeballing that 237 for a while. I think I should finally pull the trigger.

The Kubey knives were very nice and the 203 definitely is a Chunky Commie Monkey. The tanto was a good edc user. Tanto blades are not my favorite either but that one does look good. The Deejo is a good looking gentleman knife. Even with the acrylic it has enough color to actually appear to be tortoise shell. Very nice gift you got there. Enjoy your new knives.

First Kubey looks like a great tactical/self defense knife. Glass breaker and small size make it an ideal kubatan. Been eyeing the Kubey KB257 Tactical....beautiful lines, but AUS-10 and $60.

I've seen that blade finish described as sandblasted, idk though (I think on amazon). That second one (kb237) I'm still debating on this one, or the all black version.

Its called "bead blast" finish.. Kershaw used to use it all the time.

I realized after posting, this one was just really smooth and wasn't sure at first. I gave it to my son and he left it wet overnight, and the finish got some rust spots, so definitely no coating. He did get the lesson on how to use metal polish after that though :) Thanks for watching!

By the way, how well does the D2 hold up, corrosion wise, out there in the humidity and salt air?

I realized that after I stopped recording and took a closer look. And yes you're right, sandblasted finish does tend to get little brown freckles a lot easier, fortunately they come off pretty easy with wadding Polish. As long as you don't let it get real bad and maintain it it's okay. It's actually my personal preference for blade steel.

Confirmed that I was wrong, no coating, just a really smooth blasted finish. I gave the 203 to my son and he used it in the garden. After leaving it wet overnight it got the D2 freckles all over the blade. It came off easily with wadding polish, and was a good knife care lesson for him, but definitely not coated. 😂

Actually that isnt a coating on the blade, it's just been sandblasted. This is actually bad for D2 because of it's poor corrosion resistance. What sandblasting does it create billions of microscopic craters in the surface of the steel.... perfect for holding moisture and beginning the oxidation process. Its why with D2, I insist on satin or a coated blade.... no sandblasting or beadblasting.
