The best fact about this movie is that it was shot by a man who knew both John and Paul quite closely.

Have you watched "All You Need Is Cash"? It's the story of The Rutles. Both John and Ringo loved it, I haven't heard of Paul mentioning it; and George was IN it! It's a parody of The Beatles story. Ringo said "everything after 1966 is actually how it was!" Anyway. Nice review of Two Of Us. The movie made me sad. I believe they would have played together a lot if John hadn't died. Just imagine John with the whole internet to play with!

I also like this movie very much. And exactly for the same reasons you mentioned. The only mistake is they really seem to believe that Paul never returned to Dakota after 76. It seems lots of people think so only because John said it the Play boy magazine in 1980. They forget that John only died in December. So it is possible Paul visited after John gave the interview. We don't even know when he did it. The magazine was available in november but he could have talked to the reporters before that. James McCartney said he remembers being in John's lap. Why would he lie about it? And he even wrote about it. I read it in his personal home page he used to maintain. James was born in 1977! For him to remember he had to be at least 2 years old and a half ( I say so because I remember things when I was two and a half) or 3 years old. He completed 3 in September 1980. The lift scene is really a delicious surprise. It is interesting to know the actors improvised it. The director only told them it had to have a kiss. But he didn't direct them on what to do or say.
@marybedits4 жыл бұрын
I didn't know the actors improvised it, but surely it had a romantic meaning. I say that because the director of this movie, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, wrote a book about the last years of the Beatles and in that book he told about a reunion where John and Paul had a discussion when John played a audio record of Yoko and him having sex, everybody left the room but their two stayed there, having an argument. Michael recall that, before leaving the room, he heard John saying "You have to understand that this is where we are right now." And I also don't believe that was the last time they saw each other, specially because Paul would be way sadder than he was when John died.
@dabreu4 жыл бұрын
@@marybedits In Paul's most recent interview the reported said something like he knew Paul had met John more than people think. Maybe not using these words but meaning that. And Paul answered Yes. I read that after listening to that tape of John making love to Yoko Paul said: ' interesting." LOL Thank you for providing more information about it. About the movie. I read an interview with the script writer. They could not play the Beatles music for copyrights, but if he was allowed he woud like to include....Jealous Guy.

This is the BEST BEATLES MOVIE-other than the actual Beatles themselves of course. I was waiting for a fictional approach to exploring the imaginative power of the Beatle's personalities to allow fans to feel they knew them personally because John, Paul, George, and Ringo were HONEST and DOWN TO EARTH even with their riches and world wide fame. They didn't get too carried away with themselves until the pressures got to them. Just another word about the excellent musical score of "Beatlesque" music in "The Two of Us."

I didn't like it. Fan fiction too. But they don't inform it is. Two of Us inform it clearly. It is fantasy. And what a delicious fantasy. Fans may see Backbeat and believe in that story when it is not the true story. Besides, they again could not find the right guy to play Paul. And Paul's part is small by the way. The movie is more about Stu than about the Beatles. I liked the actor that played Stu. Oh, the soundtrack is good too. But...it is a sort of too naive story...I am sure their life in Hamburg was much darker.

Next try BIRTH OF THE BEATLES it seems to have gotten lost even though it's right here on KZbin. It is 10,000% essential viewing: made in 1979 before John died and was deified, Pete Best advised on Birth of The Beatles and it tells about Hamburg. Watch the subtext the John and Paul actors are given. It's total gold because again: the impression comes directly from Pete Best who was actually there, and only 18 years after the events!

Sorry but the actors almost couldn't look more different from the real people. In the case of Lennon, not even the haircut seems to fit. If I didn't knew that they were supposed to be Paul McCartney and John Lennon, I would have had no idea. Also "they didn't add stuff"??? They literally added the complete plot of the movie, that never happened! 😅 If you're making the argument, that the makers of Nowhere Boy didn't think, Lennon's real life was interesting enough, because they added some things, then you would have to make the same argument with this movie but even more so, since the whole movie was complete fiction, not just parts of it.
@theghostofboxes2192 Жыл бұрын
This movie doesn’t pretend to be real life though, while Nowhere Boy pretends everything is true.
@BarelloSmith Жыл бұрын
@@theghostofboxes2192 No it doesn't. It is movie, not a documentary and it doesn't claim to be anything else. It has a story and uses real life events to tell it. No dramatic adaptation of real events was ever a 100% accurate and nobody ever was complaining about the many inaccuracies in Julius Caesar by Shakespeare.
