Thank you. I'm not aware of any mbira makers in Aus. You could become one of the first ;) It may sound daunting, but is not very difficult to make something playable. You need an anvil or small piece of railroad. I bet a heftier brake disc from a car or truck would do the job too. Hammer, earplugs, a drill, chisel, a piece of wood, steel rod for the keys, some eye hooks or wire for securing the tension bar, a short piece of steel bar as the bridge... and you're off to the races.

Thank you as always Bill. The tuning is higher than katsanzaira; its lowest note is E3. It was made by Charles Ruhukwa. That grey stuff is tacky weatherstrip caulking; it has so many uses. :) I have a video covering two of them. (Titled 'Mbira/kalimba tuning trick', or similar) In this case I'm using it to damp the keys somewhat. When left to sing as it pleases, this mbira is quite ringy.
