I detect a bit of Oswald Spengler in this video. I disagree a little about romanticism, which appears most often to me as an attempt to overcome scientific materialism with aesthetics rather than morals, it’s funny how a view so high level that it can be explained in less 15 minutes can totally refute so much of post-war “philosophy” and much of pre-war philosophy.

Nice video, the swipe at Richard Dawkins came out of nowhere 😂. I've been wanting to read a book on the history of western philosophy, everyone says the one by Bertrand Russell. Do you agree or do you know of a better one? And while we're at it what's the best book on the history of Asian philosophy you would recommend?

Frederick Copleston's History of Philosophy is the real deal if you're doing multi-volume, serious, reading that is still understandable and accessible as he really covers everything with care and concern from the ancients and medievals to moderns, and doesn't demean phenomenology and continental philosophy like Russell does. For a shorter work, Anthony Kenny's A New History of Western Philosophy. As an undergrad I read Joel Kupperman's Classic Asian Philosophy. None of my professors ever recommended Bertrand Russell. Man is so out of date and wrong you'd harm yourself reading that work. Kenny is the go-to now if you're looking for just a brief (1000 page) work.
