Not only are you clear and concise, but it's your tone of voice. Very pleasant and your demeanor is very relatable. The way you acknowledge mistakes also makes you more human.

What an infectious energy he puts into it. A nice, simple approach to portraits, nothing too technical, makes you feel you can get the same results. And you probably can. I didn't know about the pop-out backdrop, I thought he was going to use a reflector. That will be a good candidate for the Adorama gift card I'm sure I'm getting for Christmas. I'll be looking for more of his stuff on AdoramaTv.

Newer canon DSRLs such as the 60D have CLS which uses the camera's inbuilt flash as a master trigger. This is a menu option that you have to switch on under 'flash control' in the menu. You also have to make sure the off camera flash is set to wireless slave mode, make that the camera and flash are set to the same channel and you're sweet to shoot :)

Great video, i can't believe i missed the refined edge option untill now, thank you so much. But for the shadow, wouldn't it be so much easier to go into the blending options of your portrait layer and just add a dropshadow? you have much more control over it and it is a lot faster?!

Wow- nice photo! Does it imply that if I buy one good external flash- it will be useless if I don't proceed on adding other gears like backgrounds, reflectors, umbrella, beauty dish, etc? Photography is a bit expensive hobby.. When I first bought a DSLR with kit, I realized that the kit isn't good at all so I upgraded lens.. then when I want to get a flash.. one good flash isn't enough, needs umbrella, etc. I don't have that studio space LOL..

Gavin, I'm getting the same pistol grip but can't decided which brand should I go for when buying a good tripod for both indoors & outdoors use, I can see you're using a Vanguard but is it really better than a similar Manfrotto?
