Interesting take. So far, I've worked with Craftsman USA, Stanley, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Snap-On, Icon, and more no-name ratchets than you can count. I wouldn't say the Icon is the best one I've ever used, but for the price, I'd say it's one of the best semi-professional tools you can buy.

People can say what they want about about the different level of tools. The different companies all have good and bad tools. If it works and is dependable its not wrong despite what the price tags say. Im a harbor freight fan. I still have some of my Dad's pittsburg tools from the 80's and they still work. You probably just struck a nerve with all those snapon tool snobs!Dont worry about them! I think they're just mad because they can't justify spending 20 times more for thiers. Those are great ratchets, they also got a pretty solid lifetime warranty on them too. Those are perfect for the DIYer or the guy just getting started. There is no need to buy once cry once with these! great video. BTW.. I like the pitsburghs and the Quinns more than the Icons.

I have to agree with you about the Pittsburg ratchets. I bought a 1/4" flex and really liked it. I was looking to get a non-flex and the Icon was on sale so I bought it. The Icon has way more back drag even after I took it apart and lubed it. I'm thinking of trying a Quinn.

the pittsburgh long handle 3/8" flex head is around $30, which I always turned my nose at, I wasn't going to pay $30 for a ratchet from harbor freight of all places. Then one particular week a few years ago they had it on sale for about $24 and out of curiosity I picked one up off the shelf and was blown away at how smooth the backdrag was. I went ahead and bought it, and it's been one of my favorite ratchets. I'd replace it at full price if it was stolen now.

When I went to purchase the ICON 3/8 long handle flex head with comfort grip I took a good long look at the Pittsburgh version. The comfort grip handle felt nice and firm. The flex head joints were tight. The mechanism was smooth with negligeable back drag. They can be serviced and if it breaks it can be warranted. These ratchets are a great bang for the buck. Unfortunately the backwards reversing lever was the deal breaker. I'm too used to the normal reversing positions and purchased the ICON in the end. Let us just say that I GOT CONNED! 🤣🤣After inspecting the ICON in the car and finding the jerky flex head joint I almost went back in the store to return it and get the Pittsburgh. I just had to have that red handle.

I bought a Pittsburgh 3/8 ratchet for the shop I was working for at the time (expensed it) cause they didn’t have a working set. And I was very surprised on how smooth it was. I greased it up with some super lube and it was golden. My only gripe is that the handle is noticeably lighter than the head so it was a little off balance but man for 25$ with a set of sockets? You can’t beat that for just needing something to get by.
