I've been seeing a lot of these videos lately where some BFDI/TPOT character sings a song but it's not actually them singing it. I've decided to join the trend - just another excuse for me to post a video after not doing so for about two months! But here's part 1 of my version of the “AI cover song” meme in all its automated glory.
This is “I shipped, d’ye see”, a fun little song sung by Richard Dauntless in the Gilbert and Sullivan opera RUDDIGORE. Normally Pen would play the rôle of Dick - as they're both tenors - but because I couldn't find his voice on the Uberduck website I replaced him with Two.
Interestingly, the Rose/Richard/Robin love triangle in the first act has a parallel in BFB 16: a charismatic, arguably handsome person comes out of nowhere and (semi-knowingly) disrupts a budding relationship between the main characters. For Richard, read Two; for Rose, X; and for Robin, Four.
I don't know how other people make such terrific-sounding covers, but this is my humble way of doing it. I've got two more that I plan on uploading at some point in the future, so stay tuned for those!
Oh, and I forgot: the pictures are from the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. The first is from the 1950s (Two = Leonard Osborn) and the second from the 1920s (Two and a conveniently-placed box = Derek Oldham).
