That moment when you realize Olafs speech about love is even MORE foreshadowing to what the act of true love turned put to be. "Putting someone else's needs above your own." = Elsa willingly shutting herself away for years AND running away from Anna at just the fear of hurting her again. Anna STILL willingly stopping Hans from killing Elsa because she still loves her, despite everything. And just as the cherry on top: The speech came from Olaf himself, the literal embodiment of their love.

Can’t believe that frozen came out in 2013. It doesn’t even feel like that long ago it came out. Still remember going to see it when it came out in theaters. Olaf is hilarious definitely one of my favorite characters. Also love the reactions with your sister! I think you both might like the 1960s Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson. Saw it on Disney+ a couple of months ago. Also Anastasia:Once Upon a Time is also really really good. (I know both of those aren’t a animated movie but I can’t think of one right now of the top of my head.) Love your videos so much! You do an amazing job!

A lot of Josh Gads lines were improvised. And by that I mean: They'd tell him what's going on in the scene, and/or have a character speak, and Josh would just respond as Olaf.

22:30 the point is that the act of true love is Anna putting herself between Hans and Elsa instead of running towards Kristoff; Anna herself is performing an act of the true love she feels for her sister; although Kristoff, Olaf, and even kinda Elsa (sacrificing her happiness and freedom in her attempt to keep Anna safe) have shown their love the curse is only broken when Anna puts her love to the test; because at the center of the story stand two sisters who secretly do love their siblings deeply but were afraid to show and feel (conceal, don't feel) these emotions
@DocuzanQuitomos
@DocuzanQuitomos Жыл бұрын
"How erasing her memories would help in any way?" Short answer, it wouldn't. But there had to be tension in the story and it's generally understood healing and erasing her memories are two separate processes. The second one needed so Anna doesn't insist in using Elsa's magic again (causing another accident). Now, the film never explicitly talks about it, but there is some branch of folklore that says magic interacts with the energy of the people and things, and it's more than just the physical sensation to it (Elsa didn't give Anna some frostbite; she could have frozen her entire essence to her soul). Of course, this is just for the sake of making theories upon theories, Disney is particularly famous for making magic work any way it wants (it's not like they have a grimoire with their own rules to respect them XD). "Cute, she thinks it's her fault... I mean, it is..." We can say she was the trigger, at the end of very poor parenting choices and misinterpretations about magic and power. "Does she have to take the crown jewels with her bare hands?" Most likely, yes. The orb and the scepter represent the godly and earthly power of a monarch, holding them is the act of receiving those powers as the rightful monarch and (we can argue) that can't be done with something in between. Interestingly enough, Arandelle's orb and scepter don't have of any christian connotation; don't get me wrong, not that they have to, but the orb represents divinity and the power granted to the monarch by it (that's why the British orb has a cross over it). It's interesting to imagine what kind of "heavenly power" the Arandelle's orb represents (and how this mixture of elements shows just how lost in translation the understanding of folklore is in Arandelle). "And I just disconnected the microphone, killing the audio for the rest of the film... yay..." Yay XD! Sadly, accidents like that happen. And, now that I think of it, perhaps one of the most famous ones related to "accidentally disconnecting something" happened around this season: on December 29, 1972; Easter Airlines Flight 401 crashed in the Florida Everglades after its crew of four pilots got so lost discussing how to know if a landing gear light bulb was just burnt-out or it really indicated the landing gear was not locked in position. At some point of the heated discussion, the captain accidentally moved the control column, disconnecting the autopilot that kept the plane's height locked. For the following 70 seconds, the pilots continued to discuss the light bulb as the plane kept losing altitude. Moral of the story? Have noisy alarms to indicate something vital has just disconnected. And now, back to the Disney film. Thanks for the commitment :). "Girl! Stop throwing weapons and jumping off cliffs without knowing people's reflexes" Aaand that's partially why the trolls erased her memories that Elsa had powers that could be played with XD. "How can you commit treason to yourself, when you are the Queen?" You'd be surprised the ways some nobles found to blame (and kill) some kings of England (and of other countries) under charges of treason XD. While it makes no sense, in the beginning, it's all a matter of support: a monarch can't rule if it doesn't have the support of nobles and other allies; once that is lost, you can basically make up any reason to dispose of the fallen monarch. And, besides Hans greed, the other nobles (led by... Weaselton, I believe) do not trust a lot the newfound powers of Elsa. "The problem with Hans" There are some theories out there among the fans about this element that looks a bit like sloppy writting, one of my favorite ones (although I don't fully support it) is that the trolls tweaked Hans to be even more evil (I like their reasoning: Hans goes up the mountain after defending the current monarchs of the kingdom, when we see him again he is a cold blooded master manipulator; what happened to him on the way up/down the mountain?). An easier explanation, though, is that he had mentalized himself on playing the long waiting game of marrying a princess, in order to become eventually king. If he let's Anna and Elsa die unexpectedly in the wilderness, there is a good chance the bigger neighbors of Arandelle simply annex the kingdom, kicking Hans out in the process. But, if Hans rescues the queen and the princess, and "marries" the princess in a desperate effort to invoke this "act of true love" magic, and then executes justice upon princess Anna's killer... he becomes a national hero before the eyes of the kingdom's nobles and citizens; anyonw who wants simply to annex Arandelle now will have to face criticism of those who would like to see Hans, Arandelle's savior, have some reward for his efforts. Not exactly lazy writting, but the film takes several shortcuts that make that bit confusing. "Random acts of true love" Indeed, and that's what bugs a lot of people of this film: if she gets all these acts of love from random people... why the "curse" is not lifted. We can argue for the movie's logic two things: in several folklore stories, only the person casting the spell can undo it (so, the missing bit of the trolls explanation is that it has to be an act of true love *involving Elsa*). In that particular setting a similar vein, sometimes magic heavily relies in demonstrations of things that seem like anyone can do (or nobodoy can do), but in reality are not so obvious concepts that had to be interpreted in a different light. Many people consider Anna has to get an act of true love to break the spell; but in the end (and here is the tricky bit of the story): Anna is the one who *performs/gives* the act of true love *to Elsa*. Under this logic, Anna could have got all the love in the world and that wouldn't have worked because the one who needed an act of true love to find the energy/presence of mind to undo magic was Elsa, the holder of the freezing power (and that's what makes this particular ritual more complicated, because the love is being poured into the wrong person). If the trolls know this part or only know it takes an act of true love (but not how that line has to be interpreted or performed), that's a mystery. "Final thoughts" Definetly, Disney needs to write down its own grimoire, all the weird one liners can be featured there. One last question featuring "magic", rituals and word play: when you say that "the full uncut and unedited reaction" is in your Patreon... does that mean it includes also the entire "dead microphone" part of the first reaction? And that would be it: nice reaction, happy holidays and see you in the next one.

So... I feel like Hans was still working under the impression that he needed to play to Anna's love of her sister, and that's why he didn't try to frame Elsa until Anna was basically already dead. In his POV, if he went and accused Elsa of being this horrible monster and Anna was fine, he'd lose her support and therefore all of the power that he'd gained in the kingdom. With Anna's death, he still had her support, which is why the rest of the town was willing to listen to him declare Elsa's actions treasonous. Also, the act of true love that thawed Anna's heart... needed to be performed by Anna. That's why Olaf trying to warm her up at his expense or Kristoff giving up their potential future to save her life didn't work. This movie is Elsa's story but Anna is the real MC lol

Gløgg! At 15:00 when he says "There is soup, and hot glogg, in the great hall" and you were like, "what's glogg?" Glogg (or gløgg) is a spiced wine drink, served hot or warm. It's very popular in Scandinavia. Long cold season = hot alcohol with flavoring. You take a port wine, some cloves, raisins, cinnamon, etc, etc (there are many different recipes; each family has their favorite), mix it together, simmer for a while (but don't boil the alcohol off). Serve with almonds, or almond cake, or whatever. You can also make a non-alcoholic version with juice for younger folks or adults like me who don't drink. Also very good. The creators of this film did their deep-dive research into Scandinavian (especially Norwegian) culture. The dress, the architecture, the design elements, the music, the scenery, etc. All treated with an element of fantasy, of course. It can feel a little heavy-handed sometimes; I figure that's probably true of any film that tries really hard to do research on a culture they're not familiar with, then cram in as much as they can to show how much they learned. Not a bad thing, but it's interesting to see just how much work they put in. Oh, also by the way: the water that the town is on isn't a lake, it's a fjord. ('j' pronounced as a 'y' = fyord.). A fjord is an inlet of the ocean, so that's all salt water. Even more impressive to freeze salt water than fresh water! Loved your reaction. Bummer about the microphone, but you did great! Always enjoy your reactions.

19:38 Like that kind of argument would ever fly with Anna. Remember that he doesn't knkw yet that Anna is dying, so he still needs to marry her and get rid of Elsa to become King. Neither of which get accomplished by framing Elsa a murderer, especially since the other guys attacked her. On the other hand, trying to rescue her will definitely persuade Anna into liking/loving him more. And if he gets to murder Elsa while keeping that facade, even better for him. And that was inches away from working out. It actually all makes sense if you think about it for more than 2 minutes, it just isn't spoonfed piece by piece. 22:42 Obviously, it was the act done BY her not the ones done TO her. If you gonna complain at least pay a bit of attention so you don't complain at thkngs you merely missed. Of course the trolls mever mentioned that part, but the trolls are terrible at explaining things, so that's just continuity.

Olaf is made out of the innocence and love that Elsa remembered with her sister. "Marshmallow" aka abominable literal snowman is the anger and fear. what I DO NOT UNDERSTAND is how teaching the child who had FULL CONTROL OF HER POWERS UNTIL AN ACCIDENT THAT WAS BROUGHT ABOUT BY CHILDREN GETTING OVERZEALOUS AND ENERGETIC IN PLAY TO FEAR HER POWERS WAS THE BEST SOLUTION TO THIS CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT THE TROLLS LITERALLY SAID FEAR IS THE GOSH DANG ENEMY I DON'T GET IT!!!

4:46 okay but like if you think about it!! the troll was actually very helpful and the king just took it the wrong way. he said fear will be your enemy, but he meant HER fear of herself/her powers. the king only the saw the image and took it to mean others would hurt her :( if the king and queen had embraced her abilities instead of making her feel shame around them, she wouldn’t have the fear of being exposed to the kingdom

Frozen is based on a Danish fairytale that takes place in NORWAY. You can see many referances to Norway in the movie, such as snow, vikingships, malestrom, trolls, stavechurches, traditional dress, reindeer, the name Olav, the town of Arendelle ( named after a town called Arendal in Norway) etc The setting is the fictional kingdom of Arendelle which was principally based on Norway, and the cultural influences in the film come from Scandinavian culture.[ Several locations in Arendelle are inspired by real-life landmarks in Norway, including the Akershus Fortress in Oslo, the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, and Bryggen in Bergen. Numerous other typical cultural Scandinavian elements are also included in the film, such as stave churches, trolls, Viking ships, a hot spring, Fjord horses,clothes,] and food such as lutefisk. A maypole is also present in the film, as well as the brief appearance of runes in a book that Anna and Elsa's father opens to figure out where the trolls live. A scene where two men argue over whether to stack firewood bark up or bark down is a reference to the perennial Norwegian debate over how to stack firewood properly. The film also contains several elements specifically drawn from Sámi culture, such as the usage of reindeer for transportation and the equipment used to control these, clothing styles (the outfits of the ice cutters), and parts of the musical score. Decorations, such as those on the castle pillars and Kristoff's sled, are also in styles inspired by Sámi duodji decorations. During their field work in Norway, Disney's team, for inspiration, visited Rørosrein, a Sámi family-owned company in the village Plassje that produces reindeer meat and arranges tourist events. Arendelle was inspired by Nærøyfjord, a branch of Norway's longest fjord Sognefjorden, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; while a castle in Oslo with beautiful hand-painted patterns on all four walls served as the inspiration for the kingdom's royal castle interior.

In the first idea of the movie Elsa was going to be the villain as she is inspired off of the Ice Queen. That's how Hans' motives sort of became like a conspiracy, but the eventual movie dropped all that. If they went with the story where Elsa was the antagonist, it would've easily explained why Hans was trying to save her in the ice castle. Back then he still would've been a good guy, but after that scene, after seeing his reflection in ice, he would've become evil. The Ice Queen used her ice powers to draw out the worst in people. I like the way that this movie went in really making it about two sister who have to find each other again and are each others' true love, but I must admit that I wonder how the movie would have played out if Elsa was the antagonist.

There's a theory that the trolls are actually the ones who turned Hans evil. In the beginning he was nice and swooned over her when no one was looking. He helped the towns people and even saved Else from the arrows. It wasn't until the trolls sung the song stating they wanted to get him out of the way that he changed. Pretty dark and sad actually if you think about it.

Went to see this with my best friend who had seen it with his nephews a couple days before so he knew about Hans reveal. When that scene happened, he was watching me for my reaction, I almost swore in front of a bunch of small children 😛

Trolls: "Your cute i think ill keep you" Dog moms: "Your cute i think ill keep you" Coincidence? Hey Angelina, Happiest of Holidays🎄 stay warm and keep the twizzlers coming. (Had to look up how to spell twizzlers cuz i thought it was twisslers) but i digress. Got a quick suggestion for you if your interested. 2 holiday movies that you might enjoy. Let It Snow(2019) and Love Hard(2021). Have a good day.👋✌
