On September 24, 2023, an opportunistic crime unfolded as two teenagers seized the chance to steal an SUV, instigating a high-speed pursuit with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). Responding to reports of a stolen vehicle from Riverview spotted on I-75, an FHP trooper managed to catch up with the red SUV. However, the driver failed to stop when signaled to do so by the trooper.

I think when the LEO hit his siren, the driver on the right headed for the shoulder and parked it. He would’ve seen the thief pull that little right jog- left jog -right jog maneuver, saw the LEO, and decided to watch instead of participate. Smart person!

Longer+harsh sentences dont reduce crime, they just make criminals more likely to violently resist, and as they get later in their sentences, they overwhelm the prison system with older offenders who have more health problems, are harder to rehabilitate, and would be less likely to commit crime when let out compared to younger offenders. TLDR; extreme sentencing will lead to more cops shot, and a worse prison system

For those wondering what his sentence will be I have a similar case I found online. Here it is with the sentencing. UPDATE, Dec. 11, 2018: Two teens accused of leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase earlier this year took pleas in their cases, according to Palm Beach County court records. Aaron Louis, now 19, was sentenced to a year in prison with credit for 164 days and will be placed on two years of probation once he completes his sentence in the Palm Beach County jail, according to his plea agreement. Macken Mitulien, now 19, was sentenced to 366 days incarceration with credit for 164 days, according to court records. Original Story, May 16, 2018: Three South Florida teens were arrested Sunday after they stole a car, robbed a man and threatened his life with a gun, Boynton Beach police say. So basically ONE YEAR is the sentence for stealing a car, robbing someone at gun point, and a high speed chase with Police. ONE YEAR. This is what happens when people vote in weak on crime judges, DA's, and politicians who are nice and safe behind their gated golf communities. Email them. Call them. FIRE THEM at the ballot box and they will stop aiding and abetting these criminals.

Usually our FHP wants to do the follow, then the spike strips, then the box in, before they get to the TVI-except in the panhandle region where I live. Seen a Trooper turn his lights on behind a vehicle that then fled, 3/4 mile down the road the vehicle was laying on it's side with the Trooper holding them at gunpoint-and about a 1/4 mile from the junction where the regional headquarters is at. Likely some desk jockeys got some excitement they haven't had in sometime.
