Two tigers fight over tigress in Tadoba TATR (Original video by Saurabh Kurve, 01.07.2019)

We have seen many times that tigers do fight for their territory, but have you seen even them fighting for a female?
This video captures very rare moment from wildlife where two majestic male tigers from Tadoba forest in the buffer area of Navegaon-Ramdegi spotted fighting over a female for mating. The males are named as "Samrat" and "Mowgli" who are in the middle of their young age and are fighting over the females named “Mayuri".

It is really hard for the tigress to raise cubs when she in the middle of two strong males territory.The tiger who is not the sire will kill the cubs if he sees them.

One if the best fights captured of wild tigers. It’s a rare sight. This area also now has Chota Matkasur who is about 4 years old. It’s really a battle of beasts out there. We were lucky to capture chota Matkasur at close distance about a year ago. He growled at us and when we see the clip in our channel it is intimidating. So this must have been a spine chilling experience!

The stripe pattern of both males are so similar they most likely are brothers, which explains their initial hesitance to fight.

A tigers stripes are as unique as a humans fingerprints, to say that the similar pattern makes them somehow related is ridiculous. Go to your brother or sister and compare fingerprints and see how different they are.

Tiger death matches are much rarer and neither tiger want to actually risk injury. They are actually far more risk risk averse than lions. Losing tigers can just find another female later. Lions tend to be more combative and even cripple the loser. Many times even resulting into the loser limping or with far more severe injuries. This is because the lionesses are not disburse as tigresses, but in groups only willing to mate with pride males. Thus the lion must be more willing to die if he wants to reproduce Tigers here just wants to mate. Lions want to rule.

Lions rarely fight to the death just like any other big cat. Lions want to survive, they have no idea what ruling is. That is something humans want to do. Some people insist on giving lions human emotions and traits. Lions are not braver or have more courage or any other human emotion. They do what all other animals do, try to survive.

@@t74guard78 Perhaps "rule" is the improper word. They don't rule in any governing means, like literal royalty. But they are certainly hierarchal with males seeking dominance within the their pride. This can also determine if they can even stay within the pride, as males are much more likely to be kicked out. The pride is too much of an advantage to lose. It's stability, access to limited resources, aid when ill, reproduction, protection (mainly from outside rival lions, etc), and support which reduces their chance of injury and success rate.
