Great review. Plus buying tips. You are one experienced buyer. Here in the Philippines, RIA or ARMSCOR sells 2 types of the TAC ULTRA FS HC 45. Civilian and AFP Service variant. It is priced at about Php 50,000 (USD 1K + -) for Civilian Variant. AFP Service men and women can buy the AFP Service variant for Php 20,000 (USD 400 + -). If I am in the AFP, I would surely buy the RIA 45 and spend the money that i saved for the upgrades to make it ready for competition. The RIA is reliable enough to be used by the AFP.

Much appreciated and thanks for the feedback! To be honestly it really depends on how the buyer treats the purchase. The Shadow 2 is more reliable out the box but the RIA tuned is a menace of a gun. Feels very similar to the DWX for half the cost. The Shadow 2 can easily be up to part though with the same mods. It’s just the buyers approach frfr. Thanks for watching!

I have a single stack RIA in 10mm. Built like a tank. Have shot very warm (1500+fps hand loads) through it, no issues.

The CZ definitely doesn’t have more slide mass than a 5 inch 2011. What you’re feeling is likely a heavier spring and friction from the internal slide rails

Appreciate the feedback! I believe the you’re right as to feeling more internals with the Shadow 2 but I did weigh both slides and the CZ slide without recoil spring is heavier that the RIA 2011 slide. Can’t speak for a Staccato as I don’t have a FS slide to weigh but the S2 slide is heavier than the RIA slide mentioned in the video for sure. Thanks for watching!

the real issue with the tac is finding a holster that fits a full dust cover and rail 5" 1911. its turning out to be harder than finding the mec gar p18's.

the bull barrel Match Tact version of the RIA, also comes with the backed out rear sight. much better than the tac ultra and would be a better comparison to the CZ.

Nice comparison. 👍 I'd go with the Shadow 2 because you really don't really need to do anything with it. Great trainer firearm and serious shooting firearm. The old saying is, Buy once, cry once! I bet you won't be doing any crying.

As much as I love RIA, if you have the money for a Shadow 2, go with the CZ. You'll get your money's worth. But if you are on a budget, you can't go wrong with the RIA TAX series. You get so much for the money you pay for them.

So I recently bought a Tac Premium in .22TCM. A few things to note: 1) A fair comparison would be the Rock Island and a CZ Tactical Sport 2, as the Rock Island is really a Doublestack .45 akin to a CZ or Tanfoglio LARGE frame. 2) Regarding magazines. The Rock Islands with magwells do ship with extended basepad magazines. Guns with magwells rely on mags with no front lip (so they can fit) and also flared sides to prevent overinsertion. My gun came with 2 mags but Armscor noted that Para P14/16/18 mags are identical, and will work with aftermarket basepads, ie Taylor Freelance. Rock Island factory mags run about $40 each, but have cheap plastic basepads that may need fitting. The Para ($25) and Taylor Freelance ($35) option will obviously be steeper.

@@speccivilian that's interesting. For what I have read/heard via KZbin videos that a lot of competitive shoots have won shooting competitions with said sidearm. Nevertheless, I appreciate your reply. Keep up the good work.
