Russian Pilots are not as well trained as the F-22 pilots. Additionally if the S-400 did manage to pick up.the F-22s they would see the radar cross section of a bumble bee. So it's very unlikely to be picked up. And given the state of Russian equipment it's likely the crew mistakes the F-22s for a mistake on the system. Oh and the AGM-158 JASSM missiles have a range of 230 miles or 370.4 km or just about 200 miles unclassified. The max range of the S-400 missiles is 380 km (240 mi) with the 40N6E missiles . However considering the Russians S-400 missile defense system has failed to shoot down HIMARS missiles.. There's not much hope for the Russians realistically. Mostly due to the poorly trained Russian military personnel.

The issue with the missiles is that they're going dumb when they loose lock. In reality, they'd continue towards the predicted location depending of the aircrafts speed direction and rate of turn, not just pull level and go "whelp, thats me done".

I would like to see a fight over the Himalayas between Indian Air Force and the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. India now has 3 S-400 regiments delivered plus a variety of other SAM systems. The PLA has about 100 S-300 and S-400 equivalent regiments. Tough task for India to just take out a few SAMs and fend off the much larger quantity of PLAAF fighters.

Those don’t really exist yet for the US (sorta), but we have and use more advanced decoys called MALD-Js. They can do some interesting things, think projecting false radar images of aircraft that aren’t really there, or just old school blanket jamming. Generally they would be hovering along the edge or flying tangentially to the radar circle of the air defenses.

@@jonathanpfeffer3716 MALD-Js are great, but they are also expensive. If Ukraine could launch a bunch of $5000 to $10,000 drones (basically large rc planes) and force Russia to shoot them down with $2,000,000 missiles, Russia wouldn't have any missiles left to fire at aviation.

@@gail_blue Ukraine is a different story, they are more informal (or experimental), so they could come up with something like that without it being an “official” piece of hardware. But the difficult part is getting the drones there. Cheap drones don’t have range and drones with range generally aren’t cheap. And the concentration of air defenses along the frontlines means it would be pretty difficult to make it to those big expensive air defense sites that are situated behind the lines without getting shot down or jammed out of the sky. Still, the underlying principle of the saturation attack is still a plenty valid technique. I think loitering munitions like the Shahed or more importantly the Russian Shahed (whatever it is called), are a viable path to doing what you describe, saturating air defenses for cheap. At least until operational ground based DEWs or SPAAGs start coming out.

But as they have said before their missiles cannot guide on both data link and the planes radar. Also the data link can only come from the AWACS and not other planes as well as it can in real life.

Just now came across this channel and this was the first video I watched, and ITS AWESOME! I realize this video is well over a year old, so you may never even see this, but here's hoping... Quick question: I'm somehow relatively unfamiliar with this particular sim, and this may be a stupid question, but is the fuel burn of each aircraft realistic? I'm asking simply because the way I understood the video, you sort of just "spawned" all of the aircraft at a location of your choosing (for obvious reasons). Because of that, do you essentially have "unlimited fuel?" I noticed that several enemy planes we out, or at least extremely low, but I don't recall y'all having much issue with fuel. your starting point? If this was explained in the video, my apologies for not catching it!

I just saw a DCS reshade mod on an aircraft carrier during a thunderstorm and it looks photorealistic. It would be cool if you guys could do some kind of plane fight or even a fight on the ocean during a big storm with thunder and rain... would be epic even if we wouldnt see much haha. Next, they need to put hurricanes in the game or massive waves that can capsize boats or tornadoes or something epic. :)

1 - LUV these vids - 2 - perhaps consider - if a mission is being designed they will look at how many missiles can be realistically "sent" and if need be put enough "targets" in advance to negate this response for an attack as optic as this one. I see this as a consistent flaw in scenario setups ... ex-analyst from the biz here. keep it up .. again - awesome fun

I REALLY don't understand why they don't make a strategy game with this engine There's infantry that duck, cover, prone, shoot. Tanks with modeled turrets/engines, ships, realistic planes, good A.I, maps to scale... I was wondering if a couple of B-1B's could be used to attack at just the right moment, from a different direction, to give advantage that would make an overwhelming win, and give greater survivability to the U.S. Additionally, an F-15 or B-1B used as a missile truck by the F-22's in play might be a thing as well. yep it can and it is able to carry more packets than the C-17

But the galaxy will have a larger surface area and will be much more easily spotted by radar but yeah it could dump a few more, i think Americans or nato need to design a much faster version of the C-17 too because looking at dcs, imagine if they got shot down thats a lot of missiles (very expensive) just gone

its actually moving fast but you have to take into account the scale of the distances involved as well, also correct me if im wrong but the LRASMs in DCS have a shorter range due to in game limitations as per the real life versions having a firing range well outside the range of SAMs

@@Frost-01 i don’t think it was the sams he was worried about it was more having an su get too close and then maybe choosing to shoot it down (real life it would be the main goal over all over aircraft) but yeah if it can shoot further out then should be fine but having just that extra aircraft speed means the AF doesn’t have to be in the area for as long so less loss of life etc

There are only small numbers of C-5 while the USAF has lots of C-17. Probably not worth it to risk C-5 when C-17 can still drop 45 missiles each.

Would have been interesting to see the strike initiated with a couple B52s launching cruise missiles at the air bases (and maybe a SAM site or two as well). They'd soak up a lot of SAMs and would probably render at least one air base unusable. Yes, it would result in a horribly lopsided result. But it'd also be a lot more accurate.
