Why are people scared of Quran? It’s meant for guidance of the people. Allah calls it the Furqaan and Haqq. What’s there to be scared of? Allah will guide whoever is willing to be guided. Rely on Allah and his word and he will guide you. Quran isn’t meant just for the scholars or the speakers of one or another language. It is guidance and light for ALL the believers. Please stop scaring people away from Quran by placing it way above their reach!

Assalamu alaikum wrwb! He meant people who does a commentary of Quran are conscious and he gave the reason too. If you see he does say that read Quran in translation also. There are people who take Quran literally for every single word and end up making lot of Fitnah. But you did share lot of good points, May Allah swt bless you abundantly.

When he says that ulema are scared of interpreting the Quran, he means that they are careful and mindful of claiming that Allah taala means this or Allah taala means that in a particular verse.

When I first entered Islam i remember a young African man I think Somali, he looked like it, anyways, he was surprised that I was reading the Qurān, he said, it’s scary! He wasn’t living life like a Muslim moral of my story.

I think the ‘fear’ comes from a place of humility. Even the most erudite scholars in Islam were deeply humble. Humility is the hallmark of the righteous. The Word of Allah is a limitless treasure - and the more one dives into it, with sincerely and God’s guidance, the more it may reveal of its endless expanse. Scholars tend to do more diving than the average person. It is true that the Quran is for all mankind, but it may be that the more you know, the more you realize you don’t know. Perhaps, because of that, the ulema were more afraid to make claims based on their own opinion and erred on the side of caution. wallahu a’lam. assalamu alaykum

Yusuf's approach to the Qur'an is completely insufficient once the traditional understanding of it is clearly defined. According to Islamic tradition, the Qur'an is the living word of God but even Yusuf mistakes this for individuals choosing to adopt approaches to the Qur'an. There is absolutely no meaning whatsoever to his false statement about being 'privileged' and 'well-educated' since even these comments alone indirectly highlight his overwhelming deficiencies with regard to his own understanding of himself. Who is he trying to convince of his great education? The proof would surely be in his scholarly analysis itself rather than him having to tell his audience that he is "educated" and "privileged" - none of which are actually believable. It is clear that his condescension towards his targeted audience (presumably made of the many "less privileged" ) is today beyond acute. As observed before, his statements about religious matters have become less coherent as he ages and his sense of self-importance undermined by his own highly bizarre delusions of grandeur. The only value for Muslims is to take careful note of how grandiose notions of self-importance have completely ruined many so-called "scholars"in our times. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned us about this phenomenon.

@nisarmohammad3638 No, if you read carefully, this applies to Yusuf's comments about himself. He imagined himself to be privileged and educated when, in reality, his very superficial and inaccurate analysis of different topics demonstrates it's absence.

@@wafaabdullah2172ya akhee calm down. He said he was opportuned to be able to attend some good schools and even went to study the deen in a foreign country. How many people had this opportunity? It is a privilege indeed. And he said he’s not looking down at those who didn’t and even said he’s respects them because of those who didn’t have such opportunities are far better than those who did. Opportunities are opportunities and some get them when others don’t. Simple. You do not know what is in his mind so please do not judge him.

​@@khalilmk01 Yusuf compares "basic devotional " Islam and "illiterate people" with his own self-suggestion of being an "intellectual""more privileged" and "went to a good school". The whole point is that a genuine intellectual does not need ever to point this out, especially when drawing the crude comparison between himself and the illiterates. It matters not if then tries to correct his error by glossing over it by saying "some of my best friends are illiterates". Yusuf is very clearly a person of very limited intellect and any suggestion he tries to make contrary to this, only serves to illustrate my point. Only a pretentious person speaks in this way.

It matters not if he then tries to gloss over his error by saying "some of my best friends are illiterates" - the same error is compounded. Most clearly he is a man of very limited intellect since only a pretentious person could make such foolish statements.
