Pizza -
For the Sauce:
Ingredients:
1 (6oz) can tomato paste
4 T olive oil
3/4 c water
1 t each of oregano and basil
2 T sugar
2 cloves minced garlic
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in a glass jar
Allow to sit at LEAST an hour, preferably all day if you have the time
Pizza Dough:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup warm (not hot) water
1 T yeast**
1 t salt
3 T olive oil
4 T sugar or honey
2 cups King Arthur White Whole Wheat flour
2 cups all purpose flour
Directions:
In your mixer, sprinkle yeast over warm water and add sugar/honey - let sit for 2 minutes
Add salt, olive oil, and flour
Oil your dough hook to avoid sticking, and knead for about 6 minutes
Let dough rest for TEN minutes, no more, no less.**
Roll out on counter and spread onto one cookie sheet or two round pizza pans
Optional: cut mozzarella sticks in half lengthwise and roll into edges of dough to create a stuffed crust pizza
Let rise for 30 minutes
**we use commercial yeast because we cook with it a LOT. If you are using active dry yeast, replace the ten minute rise with a 45 minute rise, punch down, and continue rest of recipe as written.
After you have made your sauce and dough has risen, top the dough with the sauce, add some cheese and various toppings of choice (we usually use some sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and whatever other veggies we have on hand). Sprinkle top with italian seasoning, place in oven at 350, and bake for 30 minutes! Warning - this dough rises quite a bit so be prepared for a THICK crust!!!
Ranch Dressing:
1 cup each buttermilk and sour cream
1/4 cup parsley
3 T chives
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp each onion powder, salt, and pepper
mix well and enjoy!
