Portal issues Sound quality is great but i have encountered many issues. I would like to include the issues I'm experiencing because I have watched alot of reviews and these issues have either not been brought up or experienced. • Audio cuts in and out on xbox and P.C. (Worst on P.C.) • Sound cuts out if pushed to max on headset (Not if adjusted on app) • No noise gate setting • Tested mic and voice sounds far away • Tested mic and background noise is very noticeable. Bottom presses can be heard on the controller • Voice/game volume mixer does not work on P.C. • Settings do not save when headset is turned or or after switching modes • Audio cue needs to be louder when voice/game mixer is maxed or in the middle • Volume cues would be nice at 1/2 and max volume. • No command to end calm only answer • No command for next/previous song.

I added a govee light strip to the back of my tv and the box is next to my Xbox, I think it’s adding interference because I haven’t had any issues whatsoever until I added the light strip, gotta move my Xbox.

Great impartial review. I was strongly considering this headset. I’m looking at purchasing my first premium headset for my Xbox series x. Bought these in early April and returned within a week. Mine worked perfectly fine until I updated them and then my problems began. Headset would not stay paired to my Series S. Ended up going back to my Audeze Penrose X. They are $200 less, have a better microphone and sound better on my opinion. The Portal do look damn nice though. Still I' personally I didn't see what warranted the $500

@@DetroitFury I’ve been using the LucidSound LS35X for a couple of years and have had very little issue. I know they don’t have the most features, but I never disconnect. The Portal has some alluring features but if the mic “arm” is a noticeable downgrade then it’s a waste of money. I don’t know if they can fix that with a firmware update, but I’m certainly not betting $500 on it.

I bought these because I wanted a pair of headphones that I could also use as an occasional gaming headset. I concur with your findings. They sound great with music but aren’t as good for gaming. I do like the convenience of small, light headphones that work reasonably well as a gaming headset, though. Plus you don’t look like a blinged out cyber man when wearing them (I’m looking at you JBL). As ever with B&O products they are overpriced, though. At £250 they would be worth the money for people in a similar demographic to me but I wouldn’t recommend them at full price, even though I do enjoy using them and find them extremely comfortable and convenient.

Well, I just got these for £148... new, sold and delivered by AmazonUK. I currently use the Wireless Xbox gaming headset for some light gaming and a Sony WH-1000XM5 for entertainment around the house. I'm hoping this B&O could do a decent job for both my use characteristics.

@DetroitFury, nice review, I got these head sets on day 1 release to replace my Astro A50 gen 4, and I’m kinda on the fence with them, the mic sound quality in party chat on Xbox sounds like I’m far away according to my buddies, another problem is you can hear every click on the controller when pressing the buttons through the mic, battery life is ehhhh not impressive, even with the Dolby Atmos app on the Xbox makes it sound a little better and helps with the foot steps, but the cons out way the pros at this point , especially for the price, so my question to you is would you keep the Astro A50 gen 4 over the portals?

bought it thinking about returning it. It was to replace my Nacon (Plantronics) RIG 800 LX which mic keeps on failing after a year (was my second already) Besides all the things mentioned in the video, for me it also gives too much clamping or something, my ear drums are getting like sucked out. So after a hour I need to take them off because it feels like Im talking with my ears and nose closed if u know what I mean. Could be COD but I also heard disruptions/cracks in the sound. For music they are amazing though. But I never walk outside with them outside. Thats also a thing, when walking with this headset every step you make the headset is giving your ears like a little clap... Not sure how to describe it but its not nice.

This is NOT a gaming headset for gamers. This is a Luxury gaming headset for those who game occasionally with a controller and do NOT want a typical gaming headset. This cannot be for people who are making logical decisions. Luxury items are n to about logic. It has lambskin earpads, for heaven's sake haha!! I repeat, this is NOT a gaming headset for gamers or anyone who takes gaming seriously. There are too many commissions for that. It is a Luxury gaming headset for those for whom it is a gaming headset. i.e. those people who have great headphones but none of them have any gaming features or will connect with their Xbox easily. They play with a controller and NOT at their PC. They play in the living room or lounge and play for relatively shorter periods. They want luxury and love well-made things. Nice things. The functionality and the mic arem are NOT for these people. These people want an aesthetic that this headset provides in spades. It looks fantastic and does all it needs to for that audience. I don't disagree with anything you said. However, this headset is NOT for you or the people who like what you like or people who know what you know. They would have done a much better job if they were looking to please you - and they could have - they have the money and the know how. THey were NOT trying to. you. It is for people who game for sure but they take gaming much less seriously than you do and they just like (and can have) nice things. At that - it is fab. Musically - it sounds excellent. It is almost as good as the Bang and Olufsen HX. That puts it in third place in the B&O lineup, where it actually sits. No more H4 No more H9i This replaces them all. Then they have the HX, and then at the top is the H95. ALL have lambskin earpads. Luxury items. It is also £155 on Amazon right now, so it is a damn bargain!! Great video!!

Bought these because they were the only 100% wireless headset for Xbox. I am a little disappointed at the sound quality, it’s not loud enough even at max sometimes. I’m not convinced there’s something massively better on Xbox though

Would have bought astros or steel if they had new versions at series x drop, not a fan of buying old hardware. The Sony's will never sound as good or even come close. I own the H9 and travelled with it on trains and airplanes and I have never complained about the ANC not being good enough although the Sony's are superior.The Sony's are only better at practicality where in sound and looks (which matters to any audiophile) B&O is king. You should review the new HX or the H95 and tell me again why you would ever buy mediocre sony headphones or bose. I'd take the overpriced airpods max over Sony any day. (all my opinion btw). All in all, nice review and I agree, they're overpriced and not worth it to the average user. But, for someone like me, they're worth every penny.

The Xbox headset sounds like shit. I bought Xbox, Arctis 9x and beoplay portal. Still have not tried the arctis 9x yet but b&o DESTROYED the Xbox headphones. I have arctis pro wireless on my streaming setup but there is no easy setup for those on the next generation consoles because of the lack of optical port. I wish there was an easy way to use arctis pro wireless because they are the best headphones I have used.
