Congrats on the BBG. It's a tough ride. Did mine back in 2010 from North of Philadelphia down to Fr. Lauderdale, across Alligator Alley to Naples then up to Palm Harbor. Did it in just under 23 hours. The key was treating every stop like a NASCAR pit stop. Got lucky and got receipts from the pump at every stop.

Yeah I think we could’ve knocked this out in a lot less time but we had some delays at 3 stops and at about 3am we had to hit 2 different exits to find an open gas station.

My buddy and I just completed the Bun Burner 1500 Gold this past weekend. We hit 1529 miles at 23 hrs, 45 minutes. We then continued on to our homes another 77 miles for a grand total of 1606 miles and 25 hrs, 10 minutes of riding. We covered 6 states including Florida going the same part of the route as you did, Jacksonville to Pensacola. Wish I had thought about videoing the ride but I had enough problems making sure I got receipts with pictures. Enjoyed your video of your ride!

@@TwoIndians Would you guys say you wasted an hour shenanigan's or was your schedule fairly tight. Were most of your stops less than 10 minutes? I've done several Saddle Sore 1k's but no Bun Burner Golds yet. I think I'm ready.
@TwoIndians
@TwoIndians 3 жыл бұрын
I’d say we had about 40 minutes of wasted time. One fuel stop was exceptionally long for several reasons, I’d say on average it’s just gonna happen no matter how hard you try to avoid it. Bathrooms not working, receipt machine broken etc. the other delay was when we separated from Ron we stopped at a rest stop and just took a break for about 20 minutes. I don’t want to undersell it and say it’s easy, because it’s not, but if you stick to the plan it’s completely do-able. I say go for it!
@KareemHadee

@@TwoIndians I'm going to give it multiple tries! Thanks for the encouragement. Worse case scenario is that a failed BBG turns into a Bun Burner Silver or Saddle Sore 1k. That's the way I see it. I've done several bun burner silver's, and I'm confident I can do a BBG as long as I don't hit traffic!

I have one certified BBG. I attempted another last year and had to settle for the standard BB. Last years attempt took me 28 hours. I had to stop too much because I was really battling drowsiness several times. CONGRATULATIONS! I have to be honest, I didn't think you would make it. One thing I would say, every time you stop, take your helmet off even if just for 1 minute. Get the pressure and weight off your head every stop . It just kind of refreshes you , restores circulation to any pressure points, promotes alertness. Great job you guys!

Congrats -Enjoyed the video. Special to do it with friends although that presents challenges in itself. Great job. My Texas BBG is mapped out and will happen in Oct when the temp breaks down to just mid 90s.

Awesome Videos. My 3 buds and me are riding from Coconut Creek, Fl to Sturgis. I have never ridden that far and could use any advice on staying awake. LOL. Any suggestions? Thanks
@TwoIndians
@TwoIndians 2 жыл бұрын
You won’t have any problem staying awake, but fatigue and pain will come on strong. We’re riding to Sturgis from Orlando in ‘23. It’s 2100 miles. We’re doing an Iron Butt saddle the first day then spreading the next 1000 miles out over two days. My best advice is take an Advil PM the night before around 4-5pm and go to bed around 8:00, get a good 7-8 hours in and out the door by 5:00am. Ride til 10:00pm and you’ll be fine the next couple days. 500 Miles will seem like a breeze.

Bring eye drops, wear ear protection, and eat very, very light. NO BIG MEALS. Bring some single serving size trail mix bags about 300 calories each and eat every other stop. Stay super hydrated, hardest thing to do while riding.

Thinking of trying a ride like this myself this year. Managed 700 kilometres in a 16 hour day. Mind you, I stopped and did some hiking, swimming, and exploring. Wonder if I could of hit 1000 kilometres or more if I was just purely riding. Y'all wild for riding all night though don't know if I could do that lol
@TwoIndians

It’s a different mind set. The ride is the only goal, gas, pee, drink, go. And get home as fast as you can LOL
@JaayRides
@JaayRides 3 жыл бұрын
@@TwoIndians yeah no doubt. I could probably manage a saddle sore, 1600k in less then 24 hours 🧐 I’ve done about 1200 kilometres driving in a car for 12 hours so an extra 400 kilometres with an extra 12 hours... hmm definitely thinking of that for a challenge. And content of course

Nice job, all that time sitting stationary really adds up so to finish with 20 mins up your sleeve is good going. Feel free to check out my TT2000 vids for a Kiwi style long distance adventure.

Hey Jim! It was a slog but we made it! I think we all avergaed about 40mpg, mainly because we were riding so hard. That gave us about 150 miles between stops. Normal cruising speeds for me at around 75 and i get 41-42mpg with the 116, which i did not have when i shot this video. But now at 80-85 i get about 38mpg Thanks for watching!

this may not have worked for you but when I am on a ride and stop at a gas station that you have to go inside and not just pay at the pump, I leave and go to another station. And by chance the station does not provide a receipt at the pump I don't go back there. that's just me though.
@TwoIndians
@TwoIndians Жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s a conundrum. On a SS1000 it wouldn’t be an issue but on a BBG every minute counts right? So do you spend the time checking pumps to see if it will print or do you just suck it up and run in. Besides, there’s no guarantee the next stop will have receipts any way. I just go for it. Haha. Thanks for watching!

I get some buffeting yes but I guess I’ve become immune to it. It’s not too bad considering I have the shortest size Freedom Shields makes. At some point I may go to a 14” as I still think I can see over it. But now that I’m thinking about it, most of my buffeting comes up from below, especially on the left side of the tank.

ridewithtwoindians Brian I have the 16 inch Freedom and it does really well. I’m like you I get a lot of air from bottom. I was also thinking about getting the dirty bird fairing for long trips and really does well and it’s removable. it’s pricey but cheaper than getting a new bike. Glad you guys made it home safe. Don’t forget if you’re ever up in Atlanta come see me at Mall of Georgia Indian and if you have any tech questions reach out to me. Stay safe.
