The brain surgery thing is way more common than people realize. Usually it’s doing things like lifting fingers, putting shapes in corresponding holes, describing an image, vocalization, reacting to stimuli like being poked in the feet/legs or following the nurses pen light with your eyes. But if you have a hobby that’s consistently engaging (drawing and playing music are the main ones), doctors will try to set you up with certain sheet music or paper and different colored markers. You usually aren’t anesthetized during anything more than a biopsy, because if you’re knocked out and the surgeon makes a wrong move, it won’t be realized until you wake up. Which can lead to insane lawsuits. People going blind, being paralyzed (temporarily or otherwise), hearing loss, extreme mood or behavior changes, etc. Even being “partially lobotomized”. It feels weird, but it’s an experience like no other. Hopefully it never happens to you, but to me, it was great. Met some super cool doctors, nurses, and orderlies/janitors. Made some friends, lost some friends. And despite having my brain exposed to the open air for a few hours, it was a ton of fun.

ThatOneShipper UwU The only part of the head that really feels pain is the scalp and skull. So they anesthetize those areas before drilling. After that, it’s like a really weird pressure/tugging sensation. But the mild paralytic I was given made me not really care. They did have to keep telling me to stay still because I kept laughing for some reason. Fun experience but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Sorry if this was previously commented, but if you are having a hard time executing the 4:3 rhythm, use the natural rhythm of the syllables when you say “pass the god damn butter.” Saying this while alternating your hands should guide you into being able to execute the 4:3 rhythm. I’m pretty sure the reason he was playing violin during his brain surgery is so that he can still remember how to play after the surgery is done and so that the surgeons know not to touch that part of the brain that they can see is active (when he plays). A similar thing has been done before where a girl sung through her brain surgery so she would lose that ability. It is really fascinating.
