I knew a man who learnt to play piano on a piece of cloth. I kid you not, he had one lesson a week with an actual piano with his teacher, the rest of the time he practiced on a piece of cloth he had drawn on to resemble a piano. That was the keyboard he practiced on. He practiced without sound!!!!! He was actually pretty good too. Practice makes perfect!

Agreed on the practice. The man has touched an actual piano before the cloth version; the tactile memory helps when he doesn't have the real thing. Musicians do that, sometimes, with just a sheet music and empty air in front of them. But I do not think instrument-free practice is useful to anyone who never had exposure to the real instrument before.

Ling ling can play FORTISSISSISSISSISSISSIMO in rests with sharps, double flats, some misplaced naturals, an arpeggio, and some slurs and ties. Also ling ling can improvise an *i n t e r e s t i n g* sonata, variations, and contrapuntally perfect double fugue with the motif of these some crazy rests. Isn't it amazing? + Oh I forgot to mention another fact: Ling ling can play 16 notes a second 40 hours straight.

@oneamongstthecrowd 6 жыл бұрын
It isn't amazing for ling ling. He treats it as a morning routine. It's part of his orchestra, while he is also playing the piano, cello, contrabassoon, guitar and the flute. All this while his mom shouts at him for not playing the lute.

9:27 That's the reason why I feel bad for upgrading my keyboard recently (I actually don't have it yet, I had to send it in for a small technical fault). I feel like my skills are not "worthy" of the instrument, but at the end of the day, it's still an object that's bought for money, as long as that's paid I can have the product, even if I'm not worthy of it, right? And I love it! It sounds great and feels great, but it just seems wrong that it is so great and I am very mediocre.
