Thuong's new bike is a BMC Switzerland Teamelite 03 Two aluminium hardtail 29er mountain bike. You'll have to watch the video to see what name she decided to give it ;)
It feels great to have a new bike added to our family, and looking forward to hitting the MTB trails in Japan together this year.
I filmed everything for this video in 4k, but the files ended up being over 100gb and too big for me to export, so unfortunately was only able to export to 1080p..

I thought that assembling the new bicycle was much more difficult, instead it is quite simple (I have always bought new bikes already assembled). I didn't quite understand what you did to the front disc brake caliper. The pad touched one side of the disc, so you disassembled the caliper and then? Congratulations to Thuong for her beautiful and useful gift 👍👏🚲

Thanks! Just loosened up the bolt that attaches to the frame/fork, realign and re-tighten when it's not rubbing.

Hi to you both ... the last bike build I did was about two years ago when I had my mountain bike delivered .... it was not so easy getting it out of the box with a weight of around 23 Kg (steel frame ) ... the most difficult thing I found was adjusting the brakes

Thuoung is close to my height but I ride small frames (I'm 5'6"). Something tells me that you got a M size just so you could ride it as well, jk. lol It's my first time seeing a cable actuated fork lock-out. I normally see ones with just a the knob where you have to reach down on the fork and twist it which is what I have on my Giant MTB. The orange paint job on the BMC bike sure glows when light shines on it though through the camera lens, it doesn't really show it but I bet in person, it does. I have a Giant Contend SL bike with similar neon orange paint and it really glows when light hits it though not as bright as reflectors but it's certainly bright. Cruise mentioned "tubeless tape"! Must be a hint at another video about setting tubeless; gonna be entertaining to watch if you make a vid on that. But sometimes if you have the right tubeless rim and tire combo, it'll fit on dry as long as the rim bed is sealed with the tape. My Giant tubeless rims and the Giant tubeless tires it came with fit dry with no problem with a regular track pump. My semi-ghetto tubeless setup (tubeless tire + tubeless valve + non tubeless rim + 2.5 layers of wrap of gorilla tape per wheel + sealant + soapy water) required high pressure inflation which I used a track pump with a air booster canister to release a lot of air at once in order to get the tire bead to seat inside the rim hooks. Topeak Joe Blow Booster Floor Pump (around $130+) is a decent track pump with the air tank which you could charge and release at full burst; of course, there are other company that sell similar trackpump + air tank combo, too. My next ghetto tubeless setup attempt is probably going to try and mount Schwalbe Marathons and if I succeed, that would be the ultimate commuting tire setup due to it's high resistant to puncture but if debris happen to makes it's way through, the sealant will seal it up. :)

Thuong is a first timer. Usually first timers like to have a fully stretch arm. 2nd the handlebar has bit of inside curve i think it is just fine.

My Merlin C Cross bike has a 1 x 12 drive, SRAM Force 1, she will love it, also the through axles on both wheels that require an allen wrench. It will stop any fork flex for sure and as you say, you get ace wheel alignment

Great job Thuong! That is a really sharp color you picked. It looks like you also have a coat to match but not a cycling coat. Why no reflectors on the bike? Is it a faux pas with serious cyclists? I guess you have adequate reflectors on your shoes and cycle clothing not to mention you need a light at night in Japan I seem to remember.

Thanks! I guess it's a thing within the racing community where they're viewed as lame. I would keep them on a city bike, but no need on a mtb I think.. Just extra weight and could come loose on a trail
