Very well researched and composed video. I got mine today in my nib here in New Zealand for $328NZ with starter kit . Also got Twsbi 580 Mini in Grape for $124NZ. Looking forward to more exceptional videos like this from you. Keep up the good work.

I’ve got the AL Sport in a nice denim blue- love the look and it writes well- the cap pops off sometimes when posted and the converter doesn’t hold much ink. I’ve got the twsbi diamond al which is fine but I’d rather be able to post the cap. I’ll keep an eye out for options with these two pocket pistons. I’m leaning toward Kaweco for the all metal look and feel. Your video was very informative-thank you.

Very well presented and you now have a new subscriber 😁 I agree with all you say and am also the proud and happy owner of many Kaweco Sport and TWSBI fountain pens. In fact, while you were giving your review just now, I was doing a little maintenance on my TWSBI Diamond Mini AL in Grape in preparation to refill it with a new ink. I have many many and dare I say many more fountain pens collected over the last 59 of my 70 years. Some I have paid absurd amounts of money on and others, like the Kaweco and TWSBI's, a modest amount. In general, for consistency I would have to give the gong to TWSBI. I've never received a TWSBI that hasn't written first go every single time whether I just put it down or it was 'resting' for a month. My Kaweco's don't give the same consistency, but on the whole they beat the pants off the Conlon, Elisee, Pelikan, Pilot, Sailor, Waterman etc etc for consistency. I received my Kaweco Piston in the mail this morning (Monday 24th) so have enjoyed getting to know it. I've waiting weeks for it's arrival - alas, it seems it's taken longer than expected for them to filter down to Australia. A truly beautiful pen that writes so well, altho I have to now find out why it keeps dripping ink. Not to worry, I live for pen trouble shooting these days, and it's cold enough not to want to do much outside in any case. Whato, thank you again for your delightful review. I shall look out for other you have done now. Have a wonderful week. 🇦🇺 🖋

I own the TWSBI mini RoseGold, extrafine nib, and the nib is so stiff that can be used for drilling into a wall. I will try to replace that nib.

Excellent and thoroughly thought out video! I hope Kaweco considers making a brass piston sport, that’s become my favorite sport model. Also I somewhat disagree with you on branding. The Kaweco is maybe more subtle, but it’s also more heavily branded. The TWSBI is branded on the top finial, cap band and nib. The Kaweco is branded on the top finial, cap body, nib and feed, and the piston knob.

is it possible to swap the nib 076 to piston sport?

It’s important to note that the Kaweco Piston Sport takes a different nib than the cartridge-filler Kaweco Sports. You can buy replacement nibs for the Piston sport, but you CAN’T use the nibs from your other Sports in the Piston Sport. You also can’t purchase a gold nib for the Piston Sport (at least, not yet!) I think that the nib for the TWSBI Mini is the same nib used on the TWSBI Eco.

Are you sure about that? As far as I understood, the nib housing unit is different but the nib itself is the same.

The Kaweco Piston Sport is clearly a better pocket fountain pen by virtue of being aluminum while Twsbi is acrylic and prone to cracking, but the price is utterly insane for what it is, Twsbi is better value for the money in my opinion.

Also the TWSBI has a cap that keeps nibs from drying out. You can open a TWSBI after a few months and it will still write. That’s not always the case for Kaweco. This has been my experience.

I had my TWSBI leak all over my pocket notebook. TWSBI replaced the grip for free. When I clean my TWSBI‘s I use a healthy dose of silicon now.
