TWW Delves: Ten Tips and Tricks!

So Blizzard has hotfixed Delves with, it seems, the goal of making group Delves as hard as solo Delves are. I haven't done any yet since the hotfix but will update this comment with some thoughts after I have a chance to.

They are frankly brutal and deaths now instantly reduce your life total without the chance to rez someone. So with some bosses/mobs doing unavoidable 3mil hits one group wipe can end your delve run. They were too easy for how rewarding they were but they went way too far.

They are insanely difficult now on T8 in groups. About as hard as solo was before these changes. Just getting chunked left and right on a tank and watching my DPS players get one shot by random everything. Not sure who this content is made for at this point.

Just finished my comment and saw this. Solo delves are the way to go now. I tried 3 different groups and didnt complete one. Went solo and slowly but surely did it on first try

Did one with three people before the hotfix. Was easy though a rare one shot us all with an aoe that was supposed to put a dot, but just did all the damage upfront. Then the hotfix happened and we didn't expect it. With 4 people we had to swap to a tank and healer. It was just a dungeon now. After that, I solo'd an 8. No deaths. Was easier.

I personally love delves so I can play when I want, with whoever I want. Delves aren't dungeons, even with a group of 5. There's no M+ time limit you have to pay attention to, just your death counter, and you can still chase the higher tiers for higher gear. I have a job, family, etc. I don't have time for 6 hours of uninterrupted raiding each week anymore. Delves take me back to being a teenager in Vanilla WoW slowly creeping through Wailing Caverns when I was first learning the game, haha.

With changes you wont be able to do very high delves unless you farmed the easy delves and got all the gear already....new chars are 100% SCREWED.

For Kobold delves, drop the totem / torch before entering combat. It depletes whenever you move while carrying it, but while it’s on the ground you can dodge freely around it without the safe area getting smaller with each step. Related to the “look behind you” tip, I find it a good idea to backtrack once the delve is complete instead of taking the fast travel back to the entrance since there’s no longer a mechanic to avoid or that limits you and search for all those misplaced items to level Brann.

And on the final boss, drop it close to the other candle in the room so that the areas touch/slightly overlap and you can move within all of that.

As returning player that has missed the last 10 years of content, I’m enjoying these. Honestly, I didn’t even know you could group until three days ago. The part I can’t figure out is why players are mad that these are hard. I was able to solo up to seven With 570 gear average. Making them too easy defeats, the purpose of having different levels. For those wanting to be able to clear level eights the first week, that’s like expecting to be able to clear a raid the night it releases without any of the raid gear that you get in the raid. There’s a reason it’s called progression.

it is soloable. just make sure you have recommended ilvl. grouping allowed so that we can do higher tier with much lower ilvl. average group do tier 8 using 580 crap while you need 600ilvl.

Loved this video. This is off topic, but related in a way. It's a couple of tips about Awakening the Machine. As a terrible, terrible player I was very proud of myself for figuring out that if you interrupt the casters, they die. Also pretty much anything you tag ignores the stone dwarf and comes straight for you. As a MM hunter I opened every level with a 360 Barrage, then either counter-shot or freeze trapped any casters. This made the event a lot easier for me.

Great summary of tips. If you use Addons the HandyNotes TWW Treasures and Rares addon pack shows you Sturdy Chest, Delve Powers and Bran Exp items on your minmap. Also, worth a Sub!

For tip 8, if you have a character that has mana, you can force Brann to drop the fire by going under 50% or so mana.

Also, if you need that fire later and haven't died you usually can run back to the previously dropped one and it'll be there to use.

Phenomenal video. This offers great tips on Delves and a great understanding. I kept picking up jars. I didn’t know this was also helpful to Brann. I had put Brann as healer. Now I know better. I thought Brann was mining nodes to show that you can mine or gather for yourself, I had not noticed that shared his loot. This is great. Thank you.

You can change talents during the delve at any time out of combat. Make a delve trash build for big elites, a delve trash build for packs of weaker mobs, and a delve boss build that drops any of the CC, snares, and other effects they are immune to in favor of some other utility to squeeze a little bit more performance. Switch as often as you need to, and at least before the final boss.

Best way to do the Puppetmaster boss that was chewing through your party is to fight the mobs in the tunnel and square pathway outside the boss room. You can pull the minibosses before the big boss individually that way, and out range his AOE by kiting him around the square. Makes it a lot easier than just standing there and face tanking all the AOE. You can out range it.

Thanks for the video very helpful. As as solo player hunter beast mastery which has little healing. I would say using Brann as healer is very helpful. I can see damage might be good if you are in a group with healer or good self heals but as a hunter it means the difference between success and failure. Some bosses have unavoidable health drain and the three health pots really make the difference on staying alive. Also Brann heal pots heal your pet too on top your pet heal.

The curio that lets you jump on branns back and pounce onto grp of eneimes for aoe damage is pretty good aswell. Can drop grps of enemies to half life.

I couldn't even solo the Waterworks Delve end boss, the Wax boss. I'm at 590 ilvl as a Havoc DH main who play M+ at 3200+ rating every season. The dmg he does is just absurd in solo play and u simply don't have enough defensive capability to actually kill him before he kill you. Way overtuned for solo play. for example, he had something along the lines of 63m health, which is not a small health pool to go through solo. His melee hits hit me for roughly 1M per swing and i have around 4.7m health and doing around 600k dps single target. My Brann at the time of attempting it was lvl 17 so that could be why.. But still. I then walked in there with 1 other member of my regular M+ team and we walked over it like it was a tier 2 delve. Scaling is for sure not balanced at all.

One thing regarding having Brann have gathering. When he gathers ore/plants/fish he will drop a treasure as well that gives you a permanent 2% secondary stat buff throughout the Delve. At least he does when I have him gather.

I do think there will be balancing done here. Maybe that's just copium but I would love to see a delve system where most of the damage is telegraphed/avoidable, and maybe tune up the unavoidable damage only if there's a healer present.

Blizzard has already hot-fixed a lot of this stuff, e.g. Bran as dps having very high damage, deaths not counting if resurrected, delves being under-tuned when done in groups, etc. Clearly Blizzard released delves with a lot of tuning oversights and they're playing catch-up. Clearly the goal is to prevent high level delves from being trivialised. Tier 8 being a challenge is a good thing.

9:20 I had a bug in one of the delves where I entered combat multiple times while next to a node, and it kept interrupting Bran’s gathering (but only the tail end of it where I guess Bran’s AI changes the node to harvested) so he kept trying to harvest the node. I ended up getting 3 or 4 resources from that one node, lol.

Love your video! The thing i didn't think about was going the bountiful delves on your alts. they dont have to be super high, but that Brann exp is important. plus fills some slots in vault on alts to help gear

what might help with the treasures in the delves is the addon Silverdragon. It shows grey eye icons on the minimap. There are the xp potion for Brann or other interactive elements in the delve.

The relic that gives powers is normally decent but I keep getting buggy treasures lately where they get stuck in a rock. It says 20% but it’s been nearly all the time and an average of 2-3 nodes(fishing counts) which equates to at worst 2% on a secondary and 5% movement speed and at best 2% primary and 2 secondary

Rage-Filled Idol is underestimated Idol for a Retribution Pallys that play with Herald of the Sun hero talents, so swap to PvP talents, and think that you are in arena, and Brann is a self-sacrificing crazy boi that wrecks everything around him, heal him up with ugpraded Word of Glory, and you'll be wrecking through the delve easily.

I was really hoping that delves would be more like torghast, with unique augments that affect by class rather than generic bonuses that often times fall off in a minute or when your health hits a certain point. They're still fun.. I just think more unique augments would add a lot of fun and a unique spin to dungeons. The augment you get from beating Brann and Murky in the delve shouldn't be the same thing you can find in a chest or doing the triangle light puzzles... It just feels like they didn't put a lot of a thought into the augments and just gave every augment a percent chance to drop from anything which really reduces how cool finding a unique challenge is... because the reward could be anything.

As a solo dps delve player, what I have found useful is using Bran as dps fo rmos tof the delve, but changing him to healer on the last boss. Many final bosses do ticking damage that a pure dps comp can struggle with.

I ran through level 7 delve. Bran was level 12 when I started. And when I was done he had gotten 2.5 levels in that one delve alone. Ran an 8 delve 2 hours later and he was level 16.

You guys are lucky, I used to have to equip a bandolier for my ammo, which I had to buy seperately or craft. The bandolier had to be equipped, a stack dropped in it and a round chambered in you gun.. if it was a bow same same but a quiver I think.. I've been out front of the City gates and killed ny a critter, or Alliance, without a shot in the chamber ..so no auto-load. It could get very laggy with high player count in-zone. But itwas fun to play.

Someone made the point to me that most of the difficult achievements in delves are for solo only. So maybe it was deliberate made harder for solo as a challenge type thing. I don't really agree as I don't think blizz would actually do that, but you never know

Solo is the way to go to now. In groups mobs one shot you haha. It's slower yes but doable. I managed a tier 8 on my ww monk at ilvl 582. Took about 20 - 30 Min.

I just cleared tier 7 today and so far I'm clearing delves really easy, I play a Blood DK (main) I clear trash mobs very easily but I suck during solo boss fights. Only reason I can kill them are with my dragonflight trinkets (maxed) Manic Grieftorch and another one I can't remember the name but they both do insane dps. It takes a while but it gets the job done and I can only remember one time when purgatory kicked in because of low health and yeah Brann has always been set to dps.

I think what some folks are forgetting are Tier 8 Delves have a rec iLvL of 600+. We’re all just so rabid to get the gear we group. This stuff isn’t meant to be soloed at 576 😅

Depends greatly on delve too. I did Underkeep D8 solo today on two different 575 chars, as I saw it didn't really have a true boss, and even trash could be pulled MAX 2 mobs at a time if willing to go slow. Neutral runners also one shot enemies there! Late notice ofc, but I bet there are other outliers where as certain story, some delves are significantly easier than rest of them

I feel like the delve system should cater towards a solo style of play. Playing in a group feels like a dungeon and sometimes trivialises the content. They should implement something like they did in Diablo, another player joins , content gets harder. Get 5 people , no more Bran and content is 5 times as hard.

Don't release is partly wrong. Combat rez does count against your death counter. The run was after hotfix so that might be new.

These are NOT tuned around a solo player. That's a HUGE problem when they were advertised as solo OR group content. THey've also changed the way the revives work. REsing or releasing counts a revive used.

I did my first 2 person delve as a warlock and Vengeance DH with Brann healing today and it was brutal. Tank just kited and I was picking up every Brann potion available asap. We managed it in the end with only 3 deaths, but this isn’t fun and I am waiting for a fix

They just nerfed DPS Brann, best to use him as a healer now. Delve casters no longer nuke as hard and are much easier to complete. Just be smart when pulling, these are not dungeons, you can solo pull and use CC.

Able to pretty easily solo T8 selves as a fury warrior. After the last couple days I’m now a 597 iLvl. Just pull one mob at a time whenever possible, and go full sweat mode for the bosses. There are some bosses I’ve found to be literally impossible (final Earthcrawl mines boss has a crazy unavoidable dot that does too much damage), and if that’s the case just drop down to T7 and it should be doable. Don’t be afraid to swap Brann to healer for bosses! Those potion pickups are really great to keep on the ground for the unavoidable moves.

For wipes, let 1 release and rez the rest. Never release unless you are the one designated rezzer. You essentially get 4 full wipes this way.

Played my warlock (affliction) today, i played all the way up to #8, but i really needed healing brann.. Damagebrann always died all of the time... Jesus that fight took ages!:( Also died a lot.. warlock didnt feel that strong there😂
