Great game, couple of things I took away from this. Reagan, overall really solid team. Didn't see to many huge flaws. Their running back is solid, defense is crazy, and overall a great, solid Highschool team. Johnson on the other hand.. play calling is horrific. I understand they have a great (Sophomore I believe) QB who is pretty good sized, but c'mon...you can't have him run the ball over and over and over again. You'll injure him. And on top of that, they would run the ball just as much. They barely threw the ball and when they did QB would try and launch it. I think better play calling and more slant passing would've been great to attack the mid field. They are like a 70% run team and 30% throw team. Which is really bad. If they trusted their QB's arm more and called plays where he could make good short/medium throws and not expect massive 40-50 yard passes, he would've done great and they would allow their receivers to get more yards after the catch. Being a tough hard nose run team is great and all, but it doesn't win you games against really really good teams. My suggestion is that they give their QB more simple routes, quick and or easy throws, and more slants to attack the mid field. Although they ran to much, the run game wasn't bad. So it's fine, just not as much. And I definitely wouldn't design QB run as much anymore. Teams will see it now and think he's going to run all the time, so they will prepare their defense for a duel threat. So Johnson can use that to their advantage since teams won't necessarily expect tons of pocket passing from the QB, they'll expect a run 9/10. Overall- great, fun, entertaining competition.
