Interesting video, was the Hazrdus a stock shaft, I’ve read these are shorter in length in the Mizunos. If your ventus is longer that would give you higher clubhead speed and ball speed wouldn’t it. The conclusion is that the Mizuno head is comparable with the stealth 🤔

Curious to hear your thoughts if that crossed your minds when testing
@MichaelM-to4sg Жыл бұрын
I had been told a couple months ago by our Mizuno rep, it was a Mizuno Days event at my club, there would be 2 G Series drivers this Fall. Both would offer same adjustable weight sole but one would be the carbon crown 440cc you’re testing, the other a full Ti 460cc version offering a bit higher spin. Is there really only one G series on offer? The biggest issue Mizuno has, imo, is the poor hosel adapter. I liked the ST220G predecessor, great look, reasonable sound and very workable. The primary reason I replaced it w/TSR3 is the hosel. I struggled just a bit with launch conditions. I was averaging mid 13 LA and 2500 spin. That spin is well within my target window but the LA is too high, especially on primary course which gets quite gusty, especially in Fall. I prefer to be in 12-12.5 launch angle window. I simply lower loft 1*, easy peasy, right? Due to the poorly engineered Mizuno single axis hosel, ANY change in loft results in more upright lie. Now I’m fighting my demon with big stick; the left side of fairway. The Mizuno 9.5, set to 8.5 was the within my preferred launch angle, the dispersion consistency unfortunately worsened. With TSR3, using same shaft and same 44.5” length, I achieve average of 12.2 LA with very small deviation and 2520 spin, again very small deviation. I was able to use the TSR3 at stock 9.0 loft to achieve my target LA. The ST220G required 8.5, with track weights full forward to achieve target LA. I would add the TSR3 nets an average ball speed of nearly 162, the Mizuno high 159’s, again using identical shaft and club length, on same machine albeit a couple days separated. Is the TSR not COR compliant or the Mizuno below COR limit? The half degree stronger loft allowed on 220G theoretically should favor a more efficient energy transfer 🤷♂️
@Tywithay Жыл бұрын
I think it makes a lot of sense for players' drivers to be on a longer cycle. Low handicap and tour players stay near the middle of the face, so they won't see as much difference year to year. Brooks playing a Sim2 is a great example.
@krusher74 Жыл бұрын
Since the face limit has been place companies have really been having to spend a lot to get a little. if you are TM or callaway you cant send loads on advertising bullshiting people into a new driver each year, but the more "normal" cpmpanies just cant compete with that.

New drivers every year are stupid. Until the threshold for cor moves up there's no further. With moi there's no more straighter. It's all looks now and finding then right timing with shaft. It's wild how that high balance point in the rdx gave you fits. I can't find the head with that minus 3 sw handle in rdx green.
@lawbinson Жыл бұрын
While I agree every year is too often, there’s clearly been improvements over time despite COR requirements staying the same. There are aero, spin, and forgiveness gains compared to multiple years ago.
@robcoates5253 Жыл бұрын
Gotta respect the companies that only turn product over when there's a measurable improvement to sell.
@ScottDreyfus Жыл бұрын
@@robcoates5253 if you looked at the take rate it would drive you insane if you were trying to operate a retail environment where you get four months to sell at full price then three months at less and ten rest at cost. Tmag sells about 40% of their year on launch but by then time they whack 200 off the price all you are getting is credit for the numbers the second half. At 599 wholesale is roughly 380 before bulk discount and programs at 399 by the end of the year you aren’t even covering then big on the 90 day account turn. Three year cycles make the most retail sense from a profit standpoint but then you have exhaustion because there’s no reason to wait for potential discounts.

Good video. I have always believed that club testing should be done only if the club is fitted for the tester. Otherwise it is meaningless. It should not be just what it is off the shelf. If doing a comparison test, then all clubs in the test should be fitted and at the best spec for the tester, not setting them all to the same spec.

Hey guys, how does this driver compare to the Ping G430 LST in terms of spin? I still spin the G430 LST too much with my delivery (using a Tour AD VF 5S shaft).
@clubchampionmedia Жыл бұрын
Spin from head to head will obviously be strike and player-dependent, but we've found this head to spin a bit less than the G430 LST on average. If you're still spinning your own head too much maybe it's time to look into a lower-spinning golf ball to compliment your setup!

Seems disappointing - particularly this absurd strategy by mizuno of delaying their most player oriented head so long after everyone else’s. I can’t fathom doing the R&D for a 3 year life cycle on a product that almost no one will buy. If you are going to go long life cycle you have to be like titleist and make stuff as good as the TSR line. I’ll be shocked if this isn’t the last ST-G ever made.
