Video Idea for TXG: If memory serves me, I believe Ian answered a question during a live Q&A where he suggested to use a lower lofted 3 wood off the tee as driver replacement instead of cutting down a driver shaft. I think it would be awesome to test out super hot 3 woods and turning down the loft as far as possible and comparing those shots to driver shots. Ideal test would be at different swing speeds to see what swing speed group would benefit most from such a bag composition. Like this comment if you agree!!!!!

Great informational videos. I went to my local fitter this past week to get fit for the Epic Flash Sub Zero Driver and 3 Wood thanks to the great information in your videos. I picked up 2 MPH in head Speed and 10 MPH in ball speed, up to 170! The videos provide all of the information I needed to see in order to convince me to take a look at the product! Thanks for the great content, keep it up!

Came here to say I’m absolutely loving mine!!! With an even flow green I carry it around 275 off the tee and 255 off the fairway and for me that’s unheard of with a wood.
Seeing Ian a little bit befuddled was worth the price of admission! It needs no saying but Matty is no mere mortal. Wow! It sure would be nice to have access to such toys to work out the kinks. Living vicariously through you two. Great video!

I just got fitted for G410 LST 14.5 3 wood... w/ a hybrid shaft. =) picked up 7 yds of carry and dispersion was INSANELY tight over the 3 wood shaft from the same mfctr' as the hybrid shaft i went with in the end. Finished length was 40.5"! I talked the fitter into trying it and she was blown away with the results hahaha !

Do you have a video that illustrates spin rates for each club? Cheers

After seeing the performance of Ping G400 LST in Matt’s hands, was curious to see his delivery numbers and strike point. In one of your fitting videos could you show viewers how your thinking goes for adjusting outcomes with heads, shafts, grips, etc. and what golfers should be asking to get better results with equipment purchases or adjustments? Thanks again and keep up the great video content.

Recently had the Callaway fitting day and I absolutely loved the sub zero driver and fairway. The driver sounds very similar to my g400 max, which surprised me but I can't argue against the performance. Knocked that little extra spin off that gave me some great numbers. And that's against the driver that I already really feel comfortable with. The apex hybrid is also fantastic. That will definitely knock my M3 hybrid out of the bag. I think Callaway have nailed it this year and the only thing for me is the sound of the driver, which I personally don't have a complaint with but I can tell some people won't like it. I'm looking forward to Matty getting dialed in with all these and see what makes the bag

What are the criteria you typically look for when deciding to put a player in a 4 wood loft (16.5-17) vs 3 wood loft (14.5-16)?
@clubchampionmedia5 жыл бұрын
Need for more launch/spin, either for yardage gapping, distance, ball flight stability, etc. Some players may actually get more distance from a 4 wood if they can't launch a 3 wood high enough

On the sub zero model, if you put the moveable weight to the back, to get it launching higher&spinning less, but then deloft it to 14 degrees to negate the distance loss by moving the weight to the back, isnt that best of both worlds?

How does the "Flash" compare to the prior EPIC version? The paintwork on my "old" EPIC drivers and 3 wood are barely dry, and here is the next generation that go further and straighter and sounds better and and and... Am I wasting time and money (fitting) and money purchasing the new generation, or should I look to get a Rogue version at now discounted prices (here in the UK)? I hear you gentlemen mention suiting the "better" player, and I certainly don't live on Mount Olympus or inhabit anything like it's rarefied atmosphere. Then I hear mention of the ST190 Mizuno the M5 and Titleist and I'm going round and round in ever decreasing circles. How much better really is Flash over the current model/s?. A recent very candid review of CF 16 to CF 19, agreed improvements exist, but were marginal over current (my CF16 are barely 18 months old,) and a golfer rationalising a 20% price hike, for the marginal improvement would or should struggle. Help please!

Looking at the AoA numbers. Matt seems to be slightly up with the 3 wood off the deck. I've noticed with my gamer (orginal epic) I'm about 2up, but when testing the G410 (same loft, length) I was closer to .8 up...which is obviously a better number. Do you feel this is a shaft lead deflection issue, or is there something in head DNA that will produce better AoA with fairway woods off the deck? I presume lie has an element to AoA too.

Lead deflection difference based on head weight or balance is possible, also possible the launch monitor was reading your attack angle differently due to the shape of the clubheads

So when would this fairway wood be viable for someone to have in the bag when it basically performs like a driver and there's only a 10 yard difference in carry?
@clubchampionmedia5 жыл бұрын
We would look to have a bit more stabilizing spin if we actually fit this club to give better dispersion, more consistent distance control and a more usable yardage gap. This video was more to just show the characteristics of the heads, it would be up to the fitter to use them as tools to give a player the right balance of distance, accuracy, control, etc. that they need.

170mph ball speed, 11-12 degree launch, 2500 rpm spin - that is a driver. We now have the odd situation where irons are getting stronger in loft and what is now a 7i is really a 6i and we woods going the other way where a 3w is producing the ball flight, spin and launch characteristics of a driver. What next a 5w that plays like a 3w? A 19 degree hybrid that plays like a 5w (actually I think we already have that!)

Trackman is truly best suit, in my humble opinion, better for outdoors ball distance results once you have been properly fitted. It lacks the ability to show where on the club face you make contact. In addition, when fitting is done out doors, you are hitting range balls vs ones you would play with. Moreover, outdoor conditions will effect balls spin, direction of travel, etc etc given weather conditions. There is a reason so many high qualified fitters, such as TXG, usE CG Quad.

When you guys get excited, I know it's not just hype. My only input is that I have difficulty relating to Matty's speed. I've forwarded your tests to a few of my friends that discount the results due to Matt's abilities. Matty's a top 2% player!

Bill, whether or not a player has the same ball speed as the viewer doesn't change what's been established in the test: ball speed relative to other fairway woods, performance on mishits, launch and spin profile of each head, ease of use of the deck, looks, sound, feel, etc. Whether a player swings at 80mph or 120mph, those observable and measurable characteristics are going to show up and allow us to make a relevant video. We will be (and have already started) integrating slower swing testing into our video schedule, but viewers need to understand how difficult it is to get relevant and consistent data from a player when the cameras are rolling. Not even to mention the logistical issues of involving a third person in our filming schedule on a regular basis.

This may sound strange, but, even as a senior golfer, I find Matt’s swing and his results very instructive. I could watch that simple, powerful swing all day long. Of course his numbers are off the charts but they do indicate the inherent characteristics of each club.
