I agree that Hmong funeral services are way too expensive. However converting to attend church to escape funeral expenses is the wrong reason. Attend church because you believe in it is the only reason to switch. Some families fight and get stressed out with funeral expenses because they failed to plan….it costs a lot of money! So instead of converting to church to escape funeral costs,why not work together to solve the problems by shortening funerals?

Whether he and his family truly believe we don't know. That is not for us to judge. It's more like he wants hmong ppl to stop spending so much money on funeral expenses and having such extravagant funerals for show, leaving those left behind broke with still so much bills to pay.

@maipha8560 humans are blind when it comes to love of God. But through time as he and family goes to church and hear sermons, hopefully they'll grow closer to God. Following Jesus is not a religion. It's a relationship with our Heavenly Father and His only begotten son who gave His life in exchange so we humans can reconnect with God.

There's no sense in doing a funeral that costs upward of 60k and up. Not everyone has that much money layin around. Why make your kids go broke over your funeral? It makes no sense in having an extravagant funeral. All that food and drinks for the guests to party. It ain't no party. You're there to mourn! In truth, all these extravagant funerals are for face and to khav theeb!

@@kanetoews7747 Yes, usually, zov hmo is a couple of weeks, but 50 grand is over doing it. Unless they zov hmo every day for a whole month and eat extremely good. Lol! From what I've seen, zov hmo is only on the weekends and for couple weeks only.

Yep, hmong funerals in the last 10 years have become ridiculous and unimportant when it comes to cost. No family should have to bear a funeral cost of 40k up to 80k and even more. Hmong pride, face, and legacy do nothing for the ones left behind. It doesn't matter if it is the old way or the new way. In the end, no one gives a damn about the people who have suffered not only the death of their loved one but the cost altogether. What is really the cost of pride, face, and legacy when the dead is gone? We can change for the better. People just choose not to, sadly.

I honestly don't know how you spent 50k prior to the funeral unless it was every weekend. I understand that funeral cost alot cause my father inlaw funeral cost 70k all expenses included. Don't matter what religion you chose to believe. There is only one creator which is god. We did my inlaw funeral 247. I do agree that we need to change alot of our old traditions ways. Lesson learned from funeral is that do what you can and not worry about others.
