It may just be the evolution of the Motion and their style but they were entertaining as heck. Dolls did what Dolls do. I love it but it’s just giving for those who do 🤷🏾‍♂️. I think you can remain “true” to your style and still evolve and be current. It seems to have gone back in time a little. That being said. 🗣I love me some dolls but Motion ate dat tail up that day ni! 🤷🏾‍♂️

Arielle is definitely making her mark in terms of execution and interpretation, and passing that onto her team. Motion was INSANE. They are the definition of a slow burn from years past to now. Much love to both squads because they both did their thing! But there is just something about The Dolls. As a dancer myself, I have always been captivated by their movement (especially in the stands). They make it look so easy, but it is absolutely not. There’s so much nuance and detail , even in their simplest of counts. From head to feet and all the way back through the fingertips, the dolls use every part of their bodies to create beautiful lines and angles (another thing that satisfies my dancer heart 😉) and movement where each motion seems to flow into the next , even when there is contrast between sharp and fluid moves. Gives power and finesse at the same time. And a lot of times, finesse is what gives that lil extra something and can be actually harder to execute , and they make it look effortless. It’s almost like their counts are telling the story of whatever song the band is playing behind them. Poetry in motion! I can see how someone not viewing it through the same lens as me, might say it’s “boring” or “old” or simply “not as fun to watch”. I understand that. there is definitely something to be said about the different type of style and creativity like Motion brought here. It’s incredible!! But it kinda reminds me of how most other majorette squads dance. Similar movements and that aggressive / balls to the wall type of energy . Again not knocking it or the skill it takes to pull that off. The dolls style just doesn’t look like any other team and I think that’s pretty cool. the truth is all these dancers probably have the same level of training especially in technical/foundational styles, so I’m not saying that the dolls are better dancers individually. But in my opinion, I do think that collectively, the way the dolls’ movement looks on a group of dancers just serves , especially when they have a solid squad executing (which they definitely seem to and will only get tighter as the season progresses). P.S.their sit down is still unmatched. 🤍

Aimee Monet-Danielle i respectfully disagree but of course you’re entitled to your opinion. And I guess that’s why they say art is subjective lol. The dolls movement has never given the hype / “down and dirty” (lol) type of energy (nothin is wrong with that btw) so in a video like this where there is such a stark contrast between the two styles , I think it makes it look like their energy is not as high as the other squad. But I guess that’s what I was saying originally , there is so much energy and strength in the quality of their movement. And from what I’ve seen of other videos so far this season, they are giving it more and more each game. I think it’s especially easier to see in other videos that are close up and not shot halfway across the field too. But again, it’s just what I think. 🤍

I just meant it in the sense of people thinking they’re lacking energy because their movement doesn’t look like what most consider to be high energy choreography i.e Motion in this video. Ocean wins this one for me, for creativity, execution, versatility, and general SLAYYYY. I live for a stand routine with a big group (Hi Black Foxes & Divas!!). I've been to a few of their games, and they're absolute FIRE and just exude joy. I also like their band's song selection a lot more than SU. The Dolls at middle row left and behind her in the darker tights are both like daaaaaaang. Giving me a little bit of Taneria- they both have that extra "oomph" in their moves. Couple of inconsistencies from the girls, but Airielle will get them in line. She is fierce as hell. As always, thanks for providing us with this great content and commentary, Morgan!

I finally figured out what the dolls are missing , it’s the small details in them counts that made the counts oh so sassy and milky they aren’t doing it ex: not everyone did the hair wave at the end of that one count , they aren’t sticking that 567 EIGHT or the 1 AND 2 AND.
