One cool thing about TXT’s music is that it all connects to tell one big coming-of-age story. Their discography is split into ‘chapters’ that cover the different experiences and emotions of growing up. ‘Blue Hour’ is the title track of their album "Minisode 1," which acts as a bridge between their first album series, ‘The Dream Chapters,’ and their second, ‘The Chaos Chapters.’ (I’ve always interpreted Beomgyu stepping on the book at the end of the MV to signify the end of the previous chapter). ‘The Dream Chapter’ album trilogy is all about the dreamy and magical adventures of moving from childhood to adolescence (that’s probably why a lot of TXT’s early music feels more fun and light-hearted), with the last album in this series starting to bring in the struggles and challenges of this transition as one is forced to confront reality. Your first take on ‘Blue Hour’ is pretty spot on - it’s about the boys being in a transitional phase and not wanting this magical time to end because it means facing real-life responsibilities. I think the fact that they never go on the Ferris wheel and that the carousel turns off at the end signifies the end of their carefree childhood. The next album series ‘The Chaos Chapters’ essentially picks up the story from this point and narrates what happens when one is forced to face the chaos of reality for the first time - this is where they really start dealing with heavier themes/topics. (Also about the cowboy hats - I’ve always just thought they were a loose connection to the carousel behind them… but idk. In the Japanese MV of this song, the carousel horses are actual real horses instead of plastic ones).

I really hope you guys can dive deeper into TXT and their discography - their music becomes so much more meaningful the more you understand their concept and the members themselves. I’d recommend Can’t You See Me, Deja Vu, Frost (performance video), Devil By The Window (performance video) and Growing Pain.

TXT are great! My daughter and I are ARMY, but her ultimate group is TXT. I have come to love them and their music through her. Deja vu, Can't You See Me, Runaway & Devil By the Window would all be great choices for you to check out.

Big Hit in a Weverse magazine article explained their reasoning behind the musical stylistic choices for BTS Dynamite and TXT Blue Hour (which were both released during COVID, August and November 2020, respectively), it's available for free, you don't need a Weverse subscription to read the article. You can probably guess that they wanted to keep it light-hearted and upbeat during a trying time; the songs were meant as gifts for their fans. But with TXT, their lore tends to run dark, especially in the earlier years and this song was no exception. SOARE hit on one point - the members jump off but there is no consequence, they actually seem to enjoy the ride. Where is this magical place? it's so bright and beautiful! But the lights turn off in the end, Beomgyu looks sad, Yeonjun-hyung grabs him to cheer him up. There are always multiple meanings that MOA assign to TXT MVs, especially the Japanese versions, but that's the best part of being a fan! EDIT: The "cowboy" theme was related to when they were dancing in front of the carousel, which had the horses (I know, I know!!). KPOP goes wacky sometimes with concepts but really, it was just a fashion statement, Yeonjun looked totally hot in the pink extensions and Beomgyu looked especially nice on the MV thumbnail. People had absolutely no idea what to expect from the song after seeing the teasers with the cowboy fashion in front of the carousel, Big Hit did a great job with the teasers for this song. Anyway...

I hope you can listen to their Growing Pain, it’s one of their rockish songs. Oh abt the book, this video is related to their storyline which is kinda complicated lol.

I love TXT and this Song!! I recommend ( Can’t You See Me ) that’s one of their Darker Songs, it’s right up there with Good Boy Gone Bad!! I think they and BTS With their song ( Permission to Dance )and the Cowboy thing, I think its just trying to get the Western Audience to feel like they can Relate better / Or Just to Flat Out to Capture our Attention and Hold it ( I honestly don’t know ) Just My thoughts on it!! I have been following TXT since there Debut in 2019 and they are One of My favorite Groups Up there with BTS!! Can’t Ult either Because they Both Capture My Attention in a Different Way!! Love your Reactions 💜

Fun Fact: Idols both Female and Males if your under the age of 20 your not allowed to show skin( like their tummy’s )during any kind of performance/mv/dance practice you will see them blur it out or use an emoji to cover it ( They did that to Jk during the butter dance practice with Jimin and Jhope ( Modesty standards for younger artists ) also during award shows seeing that run long hours Idols under 20 aren’t allowed to be Shown on TV after a certain time!! So if you watch early performances ( 2019 ) of BTS at award shows and the pane to the other idols like TXT you will only see 2 out of the 5 members in the audience ( the two oldest members ) The Younger Members didn’t have to leave the award show but being seen on tv wasn’t allowed ( They would be considered working and Minors working after hours was not allowed unless performing )I found that super interesting and thought you might as well !!
