I'm probably wrong, and I apologize if I am, yet I find myself wondering if SCOTUS is simply using this case to answer all of these questions here and now. Absurd and otherwise, to prevent future SCOTUS from having to adjudicate with potentially less clearly defined violations. Since the court uses the text, history, and tradition of the laws to try to remain consistent then it behooves the office to rule out and decide these matters as much as they can, so this isn't brought to them 50 more times with simple variations of the claims. Hammer them out now and he will be facing the trial clear and clean. Maybe I am way off base though? (sincerely)

I wonder if they are afraid of him, the consequences of not working things in his favor. There may be a lot of shady stuff going on in the background. It MAY come out, if things don't go his way, that a bunch of folks, including the justices, claim that they were afraid for their lives, or for the lives of their loved ones. Things seem too weird, on the surface, for something NOT to be going on that we don't know about. Hopefully something good comes of all this, but one wonders . . .
