Vishvamitra was shatriyas king known as Kaushik, he was relative of lord Ram ,latter on he became saint & guru of Lord Ram , their descendants are using gotra as Kaushik or vishvamitra , lot of Tyagis are their descendants, so if people say they are shatriyas or Brahmins , both are correct because in later generation, all of Tyagis were kings or landlords , moradabad Muslims Tyagis used to write chaudhris , with them all of moradabad Hindus converted as Muslims , Hindus has 25000 years old history , tyagi surname is just 1000 year old word..till 60 yrs back lot of Tyagis didnot use the tyagi word when they were kings ,mostly used the word singh or chaudhary, even landlords of other castes in other part of country used to use word singh , now people consider shatriyas as rajpoot or thakur as seprate caste...even Jats of Bharat pur , Pakistan other states use the sir name singh ....so tyagi or taga is just 800-1000 old word ...

Rishi Vishvamitra was known by kaushik name when he was a shatriya king , he was relative of lord Ram ,latter on he became saint & guru of Lord Ram , their descendants are using gotra as sirname Kaushik or vishvamitra , lot of Tyagis are their descendants as their gotras are Kaushik or vishvamitra, so if people say they are shatriyas or Brahmins , both are correct because in later generation, all Tyagis were kings or landlords , most of Rishis - vishwamitra , draun , bharadwaj , parshuram etc used to teach weapons & knowledge to prince & common men ..also many shatriyas became saints after giving up their kingdoms in search of spirituality , so their descendants call themselves as rajpoot or Brahmins both in different part of India..in Sanatan dharam our class is decided by our karma not by birth , but in last few hundred years birth has become criteria of our caste, which has made our society week & we were enslaved for 1200 years due to this reason of division...now we see the world from different views
