Yo, Thomas the Tank Engine, if Ty were a wannabe of anyone, and he's not, it would be Marc Bolan, not Neil Young. This is the only Neil Young-esque song he has, and it's purely due to the arrangement. If you listen to the original, it's an acoustic song, bitch ass.

Okay, I'm a 56yr old ex rocker from the 70s. I say "ex" because rock music (not talking about rock n roll) has been dead for 30+yrs. Never heard of this guy but caught his performance just by happenstance on Seth Meyers. Wow! I was blown away! This is old style rock music with instrumental virtuosity just like it used to be.

Neil and Crazy Horse have been getting together now and then over the last 40 years. Must have missed Rage Against the Machine huh? No offense but there's been some pretty good shit going on over the past 30 years that you ain't gonna hear on "Classic Rock" radio. Sorry Noir Spectre, white stripes isn't one of them but to each his own.

Greasedog you musta been in a coma for the last 30 years + dude sorry. We're similar age and trust me there's been a lot of awesome rock n roll going on despite the quagmire of shite that's been massed spewed for all our aural displeasure.

Yes there's been a lot of great rock in the 21st cen but I think there has been a general shift away from the straight ahead rock approach to a more mood-focused songwriting one. So I can see why hearing Ty for the first time is like "I didn't know someone still made music like this" moment. I wish I caught on to him and related bands at the start of the decade when I wasn't really playing attention to new groups.
@hope_canyon3 жыл бұрын
The thing is, most modern musicians CAN play those "virtuosic" pieces. We learnt them all in school, yall have been banging on about them for decades. But being virtuosic was never the point, your generation just made it the point. You were there in an era where everything about rock music was so over the top and bombastic that indie rock just looks half assed to you now. I thank my lucky stars my dad was the only bloke in high school who bought three imaginary boys the year left high school, cause all his mates still listen to cream and the Ramones and bang on about the old times.

Pura honestidad. Música independiente novedades.
