This is unbelievably tight. A really phenomenal performance to do such justice to the studio recording.

I love drummers that do more with less. Drums in this track are such a tight steady presence without trying to do too much.

By far my new favorite KCRW live performance. This was just a flawless take by Tycho. They're one of my favorite bands for a reason and here's your hook for them to be the same for you.

Thank you for linking/sharing this. Its so awesome @_@ I've been wanting to find a band that has an underwater-like feel to it, and wasn't too aggressive like Animals As Leaders. (I *LOVE* AAL but needed that chill vibe)
@mixcassette10 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be a douche or anything but i think tycho is just the dude on the keyboard. He produces all the music and is just performing with a live band.

Are there other bands you love that are very much in this style? If so who?
@mixcassette10 жыл бұрын
@mrhoffame Tycho is very original its hard to say. I think the closest have heard is maybe "the Flashbulb" or "Bonobo". Obviously not every song sounds the same but some cross into similar territory. Its a little more electronic but you may also like Ambassadeurs". hope you find something you like.

I'm a huge fan, this sounds great and all. For a second I thought, man, I'd be super bored if I were playing the parts Scott is playing...but then I realized it doesn't matter. He gets his kicks from orchestrating and hearing the music he wrote on real, live, acoustic instruments.

More similar to Ulrich Schnauss than BoC. Tycho uses to that eerie 70's synth sound that people are referring to, though. Sounds great live... with true instrument playing!

Super true to the original recording! My favorite band in the genre. I'll see them live when they come close to DC. This is one of my favorite tracks and I felt the "urge" to go to my studio and do part of the track just for fun and to learn and practice sound design and mixing techniques, as their sound is very unique. For those that want to take a listen: soundcloud.com/triflux/awake-partial-cover3 I know many are not going to like it but bear in mind that no samples from the actual recording were taken this is just done from scratch.
