MMC is by far and away my favourite company - affordable prices, very fun and great looking figures, few to no QC issues, no bullying tactics, and they also make (made?) a bunch of IDW figures which I adore. Their only huge miss is their Star Convoy, which was down to poor QC, and they addressed the problem quickly. A lot of this also applies to DX9, who also produce very fun figures. They (and their figures) have never caused any real controversy. edit: adding FansHobby (and UniqueToys) to the list. Another theory: MMC and DX9's output and announced projects have slowed (sadly), but that also means that they aren't in the limelight as often. They also never had the resources that TT/FT (and XTB to an extent) have.

I love pretty much all of the 3rd party Transformers but, I do really love my few MMC figures and I went with MMC's take on Defensor as well. The problem with MMC, at least to me, is they don't put our a lot of products and their products don't have a lot of diecasts, if any. That and they're not fully painted like Fans Toys or X-transbots might be another reason why they're not as popular.

I'm hesitant to pre-order as Fans Toys might look the best, most of the time, I'm always afraid of their transformation sequences as some of their toys have nightmarish transformation. Another example of inconsistent products from companies: TransArt's Rattrap and Blackarachnia. I bought their transmetal Rattrap and loved it, so I preordered their transmetal 2 Blackarachnia. So disappointed. The thigh pivot is completely loose on one side, the chest piece is held on by the weakest magnet in the entire universe, the bicep twist on both arms are way too tight for that plastic, and that's just off the top of my head after not touching it for a few months. Once again, the TransArt Rattrap was absolutely great, but their Blackarachnia was so disappointing, so much so that I don't want to risk getting their other offerings like Primal, Megatron, Cheetor, and the soon-to-be-released Tarantulas.

I don't feel die-cast is necessary for a premium feel though. I'd argue that Fanshobby's Double Evil feels VERY premium, and he's got little to no die-cast visible on the outside, but is instead made of a REALLY robust feeling plastic. Handling it made me wish more figures went that route, especially Takara. I don't mind figures not having little to no die-cast, internally or externally, as long as the build quality is good. Using premium quality plastics will give a figure more of a premium feel. As much as I love MP-52 (I even enjoy the transformation), it does not have a similar premium feel.

I don't hate any company. I buy the product because I like that particular product, not because I'm married to a company. I did dislike the Takara Skyfire, and do own FT Phoenix, but I actually bought FT Phoenix because Takara was coming out with their MP Skyfire because I was disappointed with Takara's offering and was afraid the fact that Takara now had an MP Skyfire out there FT would not shy away from reissuing Phoenix anymore in the future (Phoenix, Sovereign, and Quietus seem to get re-released most frequently). I just love the more heroic propositions on the Fanstoys. On the other hand, I don't like the look of their Ultra Magnus at all. Don't care for the white Optimus with armor gimmick. The XTB, in bot-mode, just looks about as perfect as any Ultra Magnus figure could ever look. I keep my MP displayed in vehicle mode now, and I certainly don't intend to buy the FT just because they're FT. The cult-like worship of certain companies is something I really don't understand. Even if it's MMC. MMC does ill-advised things too (being married to self-contained combiners because "nO-pArRtFoRMinG", and then having combiners that don't scale with any other 3P combiners is one of them and look decidedly unimpressive next to their alternatives). I've also experienced QC issues with MMC/Ocular Maxx. My Carnifex's arm joints aren't strong enough to hold his gun in anything save a downward position, his feet (which are kinda messy to begin with) are loose, one of the back pylon-y things had a crack in the plastic, and he came with a broken powermaster. MMC replaced the whole figure (I think customer service in general tends to be good with all major 3Ps and MMC is certainly no exception), but my new Carnifex still has arms that are too floppy to hold his gun, and feet that will refuse to hold most poses for longer than a couple of hours. My Ocular Maxx Rumble and Frenzy both came with piledrivers that did not work. Bad luck? Perhaps. But there's just no such thing as a perfect company. Worshipping or hating any of the major 3P companies is just silly. They all make good products, they all put out the occasional stinker. Some more often than others, but they're usually very good with their customer service. Also I think XTB have really gone up in terms of their quality. Heck, their Grapple/Inferno may have been my favorite mold of 2022, and it's not even a character I have any particular affinity for. Really fun and intuitive transformation too.

I don't hate on Takara at all. It has released some really nice MPs available and coming up. And to be honest, as an owner of many third party MPs, there are quite a lot of them who have very patchy histories and have released some pretty terrible products. I've never snapped a part off of a brand new Takara MP before, but I've definitely broken third party ones. I think people who hate on Takara may need to think about the differences in priorities between the company and the third parties. Takara has a long running reputation to uphold and therefore it plays it pretty safe with its products. It has to. It doesn't always hit the mark, but it has to be more conservative in the products it makes. It can't just disappear and reincorporate under another name. Even the much exalted Fans Toys has released some pretty bad figures mechanically over the years. People make so many excuses for Fans Toys, maybe because they want to believe that this beautiful bot mode and alt mode must have a well-designed transformation between them. But it's often not the case. Also a bit unfairly Takara gets contrasted with all of third party at once. So basically many people say that they hate Takara because it can't compete with all of third party masterpiece outfits. And that's quite unfair, because when XTB gets into one of its periodic crappy product release phases, people just move on to the next third party until they find one that works. Then XTB flukes a great one (which to be honest is exceedingly rare, so really it's just a figure that transforms relatively logically, doesn't have clearances measured by the nanometre and doesn't snap in your hands if you look at it too hard), and everybody forgets how much swearing they went through the last three times they trusted that company. But anyway, third parties don't have anywhere near as much to lose as Takara. They can make toys that require the patience of a Zen master to transform, have paint that just peels off, or just break under reasonable pressure. They know they will get the pre-orders, and they only do limited runs. And they might disappear tomorrow and reincorporate under another name. So they can take all those risks, like toys with the most hyper accurate toon aesthetic (how aesthetically boring) but as transformers, they barely qualify as well engineered let alone as fun. And they break or paint chip all over the place. I'm not saying Takara has a perfect record for quality control and great engineering, but for MPs, it's a record well in excess of all of my third parties.

I don't need to support anything official as the third party market makes up for the deaf years of the mainline. I hear KO will only hurt the mainline. Not true cuz they are not KO the mainline stuff with few exceptions, they are going after the high and over priced Masterpiece line and that's fine by me. Sometimes I even pick up two KO and still way cheaper than mainline and I can have one in each mode. I don't hate any of these companies. I honestly think it is harder to hate on MMC for they don't fully go into the Masterpiece scale and tackle many of the bots that do have scaling issues with masterpiece. To a point collectors do ruin basic workable designs with expectations like no parts forming, everything must be one piece, the bot must be G1 accurate according to the Sunbow chart and even my must have 30 points of articulation and we then get these overworked Poochy designs where you need a KZbin tutorial to understand the transformation and pray to Primus it doesn't break. I do like this new pre-order on Show.Z, a true toy version of Optimus with updated articulation and a few extra gimmicks.

I admit, I got burned by X-Transbots one too many times and gave up on collecting them. For me, virtually every figure I bought from them either broke or was untransformable, their versions of Scourge and Cyclonus (bought 2 of Cyclonus with the same exact design flaw) immediately come to mind. Also, X-Transbots engages in the same tactics as FansToys, for example, they released images of Abaddon (Galvatron) right around FT's release of Sovereign which was so many years ago and XT still hasn't released Abaddon... I think MMC is great, but I've had numerous breakages on their Inferno/Grapple/Haul/Artfire molded figures. I still try to grab their figures from time to time and I really like the fact that they deviate from the hyper-toon accuracy that everyone else is going for, in particular, I very much appreciated their version of Hoist which as of today, is the only one out there that doesn't have the frumpy style of the cartoon.

"They're not too expensive..." *groans in Bruticus...most likely Defensor, too* MMC has gotta be the most expensive thing in the MP Combiner game outside of FansToys (who hasn't yet completed theirs) and Takara (whose Trainbots look so bad that the G1 & Diaclone versions look better). Even after all this time when Zeta stuff began to drop in price a bit, not these guys. MMC's Bruticus *STILL* adds up to $515 or $600 depending on whether you want the G2 color ($515) or the G1 color ($600). Worse yet, those numbers are from BBTS, as apparently nobody else has them all for either variant. 😞😞😞 Takara's build quality decline goes back to MP36. Some would argue the MP11 Seeker mold, but KOs proved that was just dumb design decision by way of making the tab that connects the upper body to the lower body both longer and diecast Some would argue the MP9 Rodimus Prime mold or even MP5 Megatron, and they wouldn't be wrong per se, but that's like two misses outta the first nine. Three if the MP3 Seeker mold has the same issue as the MP11 mold. The build quality decline definitely started to appear more often from 36 onward, due to complex design, complex engineering, higher parts count, and decidedly weaker plastics. Especially once you hit MP41 Dinobot. From there, an actual solid figure is an exception (Tigatron, Skids mold, Trailbreaker) now.

XTB got the best Autobotspirit and great Altmodes. Fanstoys got the best Decepticonspirit and great altmodes. TE, DS, MMC, DX9 and others missing for me the Soul of Transformers.

If there is a choice, people will go for official but they do not release most g1 figures.. due to licensing or if not repeating the same characters. Collectors will go for their next alternative from 3p. Prices aesthetic. Over-engineering definitely is a turn off

I like some bots from each company. MMC most of the time has the best transformation. The last few Fanstoys releases have horrible transformations. X-transbots transformations are hit and miss, Magnus is rough. I'm less interested in toon accuracy and just want a great alt mode and fun transformation. I like Takara's Jetfire/Skyfire, nice transformation and looks decent. I like Fanstoys as well and it's differences from Takara, I love that we get these different options.

I have to see a review before putting my money into something. Watching a transformation gives me a good idea if I'm going to like it. Just because it looks good in pictures is not going to get my money. The most important thing for me is the transformation. For me Xtransbots looks good but the transformation is frustrating. When it comes to toon accuracy some aren't the best looking and having it tweaked is sometimes for the best. Takara's Trailbreaker is toon to a fault and I actually think that Fanstoys made him look better in my opinion. I can take or leave diecast it's not going to change how I feel about something as long as it's made well. I've had things not hold up because it was too heavy. I stuck with the DX9 Powerglide after seeing reviews cuz that's a lot of money to waste if I'm not happy with it.

My issue with TT is they are too slow. They keep releasing characters I don' t care about. Same that the backs of figures are bad as well. FT's Ultra Magnus and Ironhide and Ratchet all have clean rovot modes.

You know why FansToys and XTB get hate...Some of it is the company, BUT the leading factor is the fanatics..and YES there are XTB fanatics because when I was more into MP collecting, I was one. Someone can like something...Someone can show why they like it..BUT when you attack others who have a difference of opinion on it, or maybe they're happy with the other version they have...AND THOSE ATTACKS GO PERSONAL...then Fuk that company and their base...To me, FT zealots are one of the biggest offenders of this..and I can say that I do own a lot of their product, I have my issues with said product, but I put my money behind my convictions....I say I like XTB...I tell you the zealots came like a moth to the flame. I've heard them attack other youtubers based on appearance....calling others "poor" because apparently clout means you have to buy multiples of FT or you have zero clue about collecting MP or Transformers all together..Even lie to others saying they never owned any "XTRASH" when they apparently have/do own said product. SO yeah, I personally have a lower excitement over FT releases because all I see for the next few weeks is nobslobbering that it's "the best" or excuses given when a release is SHIT.

Im 45 years old, i love Die-cast but mainline transformers are looking so good now that die-cast is no longer special to me, as long as the plastic is durable. Now it seems like master piece figures are no longer worth it, look at seige Jetfire, Prime , stidio series 86 in general but especially those new Ss86 Dinobots
@sidearmsalpha Жыл бұрын
I wish Hasbro was more consistent with their figure designs at a lower price point because they cut corners on them quite a bit. They are looking better but very few of them are worth the cost. Siege Jetfire is one of the few I feel that are. Great design with lots of accessories. Most of their deluxes, voyagers, and even their leader class figures are half-assed attempts. Motormaster, being a commander class figure, could have been a lot better though. A few of my favorite mainline figures are all the Siege Seekers, Earthrise Sky Lynx, Kingdom Rodimus Prime, SS 86 Hot Rod, SS Kup, and Kingdom Cyclonus. I feel these were designed with great articulation and capture the look of the characters, minimize the gaps or hollow plastic, and come with all of their signature weapons or accessories. Most of their figures just can't hit these marks in my opinion.

I won't buy Fanstoys because they recently strong armed retailers to keep them from carrying their KOs. Wouldn’t say I "hate" them, but I'll never buy another "official" Fanstoys because of that. I did however immediately buy the KO Cyclonus when they did it. I don't distinguish between KO and 3P. To me stealing an idea is no better/worse than stealing a design. Takara has been getting KOed for decades, it's just part of the game you, Fanstoys are hypocrites and bullies.

X transbots are trying to make ARTICULATED FULLY FUNCTIONAL G1 ACCURATE MASTERPIECE TRANSFORMERS …. FANSTOYS are making g1 accurate fully painted bricks ….. I think most companies could do what FANSTOYS does if they made them with 2010 articulation n charged triple the price
@tydiriumhanger1320 Жыл бұрын
True XTB is putting in more articulation and that could be problematic vs the safer lower articulation route
@jasonschade2050 Жыл бұрын
Xtransbots makes nice figures, but fails at the simplest things… they’re like a kid who hits a homerun and runs the wrong way around the bases. Takara is too expensive for the value… best thing about Takara is the KO’s. Fanstoys was supposed to be the highest standard in TF collecting. Lately, quality and fit/clearance have been lackluster. The reissues didn’t fix past issues… Ive been more impressed with the new / renamed companies TE/DS/ST

With all these Masterpieces, makes you really see how flawed trying to make animation accurate G1 designs are. Beast Wars had some nonsense going too, wasn't until RiD 01 when things got better translated, even if shell-formery.
@banquetoftheleviathan1404 Жыл бұрын
I’m mostly annoyed with hasbro because they are/were the only one’s probably still including gimmicks, making them more visually appealing. Toys got me into transformers, not the show. The nostalgia I am looking for is not old characters but missile launchers, unlockable weapons, combination gimmicks, bright colors etc. if they can reissue old beast wars then they can make cool new stuff like that IMO. Leave the heavy articulation to the posers

I have xtransbots, fanstoys, mmc, takara, dx9 and a few oddball companies and love them all. I don't care for the price of fanstoys. The price does reflect in their overall quality though. I've never had any issues with my xtransbots figures and i love every one that i have. I don't transform them though. If they come in bot mode, they stay that way. I know that the toys are meant to transform, but I'm not in it for that. I probably have more xtransbots than any other company. I like the price on their stuff. I admit, most of my mmc stuff is chug scale. The quality on them is amazing. My first mmc was carnifex (overlord) and I've been in love with mmc ever since. The hasbro tarn is trash compared to the mmc version. I have the ocular max mirage and love the hell out of it. Collecting is all in the eye of the beholder. You like what you like. I think allot of negative reactions are also comming from some sort of bandwagon or sheep effects. Seeing as there are many TF MP reviewers on KZbin and in general (but not all) they tend to have the same viewpoint. Bobby's reviews for instance can be a bit rough on how he handles the figures and that can indeed lead to stuff breaking but that is just his style. On the other hand if a figure survives his handling you know it will not break 😄😄😄 But his experience with the figure doesn't have to be yours. Bashing a company for it's overcomplex transformations is imo also not really justified because we want figures to look good in all modes. Thats why we collect MP scale in the first place. I agree that Keith's choices of some of his XTB releases can be a real nightmare and could be done different especially if you compare it to the Streetwise release from MMC. But it's still not a bad figure. To get specific looks can sometimes lead to sacrifices that have to be made. If you look at Fans Toys latest releases (Mirage, Jazz, Cliffjumper and Powerglide) they weren't perfect either. Yet they did not get burned down as hard as XTB did. The issue I have with MMC/OX is that their scale can sometimes be all over the place. Their quallity however remains solid as ever as are their transformations. But thats why we have options. I pick and choose the bots I like and be less dependent on other people's opinions. These are not toys but are highly accurate, high end, visualy well designed and expensive collectible figures so should be treated like that. If you like to transform your figures on a regular basis and then complain about that stuff is breaking then imo you missed the point. 🥳🥳🥳
