You make these salmon fly's so easy. I thought the wing looked fine. I'm sure you a perfectionist.
@flytyingwithrichlamonte11 ай бұрын
Hahaha. Yeah im a bit of a perfectionist. Even on my fishing flies.

It's such a simple but beautiful fly. Excellent job!

Thabk you so much! This is a beautiful fly but also one that is very functional around the world for many different species. One I always have in my fly box.

@@flytyingwithrichlamonte absolutely. I also carry that fly, however tied with hair. I really want to try tying this as you do. I tie classic trout flies with feathers, but the wings are so hard to get right. I will try your method.

Dude, nothing but amazing. Your mallard wing game makes me so jealous!!!

Thanks my friend!!! Don't be jealous. I went through a few feathers and 3 videos to get it right. Lol

Some Atlantic Salmon Flies find their way west. Since blue is the color best seen by fish in murky water it has found a place out here. What a pretty fly!

Very nice job! Head is just superb, not quite as dramatic as a Jerome Malloy head; this looks more like a Jorgensen head.

I’ve only tied one classic salmon fly with Ron Alcott; it was the Jock Scott. I like to watch classic pattern tiers since you can pick up some tips and tricks here and there which help you on your trout fly tying. Nice job! I wish the background noise was eliminated, it sounds like you’re under the wing of a jet plane.😊

Sorry for the backround noise. Tbose are my oxygen concentrators. I was struggling with a terrible lung disease. I just had a lung.transplant a couple months ago so its nice and.silent in my videos now.

Can I ask what brand and type of Japanese silk you're using ? This is awesome
@flytyingwithrichlamonte6 күн бұрын
Of course. I use Kyoto silk. You can find it on etsy
@Nick-j4r6 күн бұрын
@flytyingwithrichlamonte understood , I have a bunch of kimono silk I wonder how similar they are I know kimono is supposed to be similar to pearsalls. I had one other question is there an easier salmon or spey/dee pattern you'd start with for display tying ? And for that pattern is there a hook you'd suggest ?

That's a very nice job on the mallard wing l tried it but without the under wing l just give up it was a disaster
@flytyingwithrichlamonte Жыл бұрын
Thats why I use the underwing. I went through a couple pair of mallard before setting the small underwing. Ever since its much easier.
@vesas521411 ай бұрын
The underwing helps a lot. You can also try moistening the mallard a bit before tying it in. One more thing is to have right sized feathers - mallard is stiffer at the brown part so you should always tie it as close to the stem as possible. That's where it's the softest and stays better in one piece.

Rich does that twisted ribbing come that way or do you have to make it?
@flytyingwithrichlamonte Жыл бұрын
This comes this way. Its medium silver twist made by Uni-French.

Great tie! What is your fill material called? Ty
@flytyingwithrichlamonte9 ай бұрын
The material for the underbody is called wooly nylon. You can order it off Amazon. 1 spool will last years!!!!
@philstevens69349 ай бұрын
It is very unfortunate that you do not show a materials list. The fly is gorgeous and you explain the pattern quite well. Please add the materials.
