I created this fly in 2003 for bonefish in skinny water. The clear mono thread disappears and creates more of the illusion of shrimp then if you saw a color of thread wrapping through the fly and onto the head. Silent entry into the water and neutral buoyancy are key to this fly. I have never had a refusal on this fly and my friends have had much success with it as well. Tight lines and fair winds.

You did a good job on the video. I never tie them weedless. Victor Trodella

Thanks. I always put the weedguard on, it's easy enough to remove if necessary.

Nice tie Martyn. In a pinch could these be tied without the mono thread or does it add neutral buoyancy to the fly? This is a pattern that one could fill a box with in fairly short order. Bet it's loaded with shrimp like action in the water. I like the way the eyes are set back on the body, more of an impressionistic approach.

I don't see why not, but you'll not get the thread disappearing the way the mono does when you put head cement on it.

Got it! it's more the translucence you going for. Never tied with mono before. I'll pick some up and give it a go.
