Excellent video! I plan to tie some small Clouser's for trout. This is a clever trick as trout tend to nip at the tail.

Nice fly. but I heard that soft stinger line doesn't stay straight when you stop and only stay straight when if you pull against the current. Can you use it in freshwater river fishing?

Bazlur Rahman I honestly couldn't tell ya. I don't fish freshwater much and for my needs in the salt I much prefer the softer material. You could always use wire or mono or something if you prefer stiffer.

Great video, Nick and awesome looking fly. Just for clarification, with the barbell on top, any issues with the fly flipping over?

Thanks Stephen! The fly is actually tied so that it will indeed flip over and ride upside down. Conventional Clouser logic is to tie it so the lighter color rides on the bottom to represent the lighter colored belly of a baitfish, but for whatever reason for as long as I've been tying this color combo I've always tied them so that the lighter chartreuse color rides on the top. I think it was just an early mistake that stuck with me, but these have always caught a lot of fish for me so I've never been too worried about it. With more traditional baitfish colors I do make sure I tie them so the lighter color rides on the bottom.

Nice fly. Just curious, who's is the stinger so far back?

Thanks Guy. When I tie clousers for adult coho in Puget Sound I like to drop my stinger hook back behind all the materials to help improve hookup ratio since they so often take from the back

putting gold flasher?? does fish see gold color?? nothing in the sea or the river is gold color.? does fish have the same spectrum as human??

it doesnt really matter but if anything its just mimicking scales so as the fly is darting by it may elicit a response. truth be told its not necessary. also look up light in water and it will show you that the sun can only get down a certain depth therefore limiting the visible spectrum of color, crazy shit bro

Approximately how long is the fly from eye to end of the stinger hook?

You can tie them to whatever size you prefer, but this particular fly is about 5" total length
