Kelly, for historical purposes I'll mention exactly when you designed and named the smoke wagon. The name of course came from the movie Tombstone "You skin that smoke wagon and we'll see what happens." It was 2007 and I watched you design it late in the fall. We took it to the stretch just below the dam, trailing it or fishing it single and it was dynamite in enticing the large browns and rainbows that lurk in that area in the late fall early winter. will whitefish hit a streamer? we dont have them here on the east coast where i am but i caught many of them when fishing in montana and sum big ones too that fight pretty good..

Depends on the whitefish, we have asp and chubs here in Europe, asp is called the poor man’s tarpon. They hit like a freight train.

I was fishing a big articulated streamer in November and got a vicious strike and felt a hard fighting fish. Was shocked to find a whitefish had swallowed the second half of the streamer. Unfortunately, I had to kill it bc it somehow swallowed it so deep, even with the tiny mouth. Turns out it was whitefish spawn season so it was aggressively attacking what it thought was another fish. I suspect you could get them more commonly on smaller wooly buggers that might appear as a big stonefly nymph to a whitefish. Have also gotten whitefish on size 8 chubby Chernobyl and small dries.
