I like your fly and the info was clean. I think that speackled trout and redfish plus snook here in Florida will go for this fly. Thank you

Just an update on the origin of this fly. While browsing the internet, I came upon a company that sells the original flies (at least they look identical to the ones I inherited from my friend). The company is Big Time Flies of Mill Creek, WA. They call it the Puget Sound Slider.

What a great looking fly. Going to tie some up. Should make a good bass fly!

I added an additional comment last night...not sure where it went or why it didn't stick. I designed the Puget Sound Slider pattern in the early 2000s and it's currently tied by Pacific Fly Group, which is where the commercial pattern probably came from. When designed, it was tied in different color wings (brown, olive, pink, chartreuse and blue) for different applications but mostly for SRC and Coho in the Puget Sound.

Hi Don, great to hear from you! I always wondered about the origin of this fly and now I know. It's a cleverly-designed pattern, and one I always have in my box.

What's the tool you're using with the thread? Where to buy? Thanks
@timothybird7008 Жыл бұрын
The first tool is a bobbin holder. I use ones which have a ceramic insert, so they are less likely to break my thread. To get the thread into the bobbin holder, you need to use a bobbin threader, which is basically a thin wire loop. The other tool, to tie the final knot, is a whip-finish tool. You can buy these from any fly-fishing shop or online fly-fishing store. In the USA, you could try J.Stockard (www.jsflyfishing.com). In Europe, Veniards would be a good choice (www.flyshopeurope.com/veniard/). Even Amazon.com would have them, there are many options there - such as these: www.amazon.com/Dr-Slick-Ceramic-Bobbin-Inserts/dp/B005TIMK9W/ref=sr_1_2?crid=18LLQK25EL5QU&keywords=dr%2Bslick%2Bceramic%2Bbobbin&qid=1687750483&sprefix=dr%2Bslick%2Bceramic%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-2&th=1 www.amazon.com/HERCULES-Threader-Finisher-Fishing-Accessories/dp/B08Y8Q7BP5/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2U12OCXVDK5OY&keywords=bobbin+threader&qid=1687750699&sprefix=bobbin+threader%2Caps%2C172&sr=8-5 www.amazon.com/Rotatable-Whip-Finisher-Tying-Flies/dp/B01LMYG0I8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=231WJHJBMOPD9&keywords=whip+finish+tool&qid=1687750762&sprefix=whip+finish+tool%2Caps%2C152&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

Hell no, I'd need to buy a drone!🤣

@@timothybird7008 No...just a close-up of it next to your feet, with a little tug to see how it looks in the water and when moved...clueless!!!
