Not really. When Africans line up to be crowned by the West, they become doubly colonized. Artists like Olomide, Wemba, Meiwe, Petit Pays made it big in Africa and played the best music. It's okay for the artists to expand their reach but be wary of losing it too. Chinese & Japanese are smart fellas. They guard their own.
@nicolem8899 ай бұрын
@@S3bot You're off topic. I'm not talking about Africans staying true to their roots. I'm not talking about the westernization. I'm saying that Tyla winning in this new category will give it the *branding* that it needs to be as good as a category as the other main Grammy category. Who won best country album? Who knows. We only watch for the big three wins, and the performances. Now the African music category can be watched out for as well, and artist will compete for that category.
@S3bot9 ай бұрын
@@nicolem889 Ok, I get your point. Branding is good. I just caution our people not to lose it all like many artists in USA in terms of the cash. Taylor Swift had to buy back her songs. In reaching wider audiences, it's good to be wise. Tyla did great and deserves her award.
