Just was in no hurry to see it. Felt like it would be another predictable flick of his. I have predicted the storyline of all his films, even down to the scripts/lines of the characters!

No one is immune to criticism when it comes to creative work. Him trying to paint all people who don’t like his movies with such a broad stroke is intellectually dishonest. Loni Love saying that Tyler Perry should work with other writers should be taken into consideration by him instead of him taking that as an insult. Collaborative work with other perspectives has the potential to make a decent script a great one.

Here comes the Number 1 critics of Black People, BLACK FOLKS!!!😳🥴 Stephen King makes scary 😱 movies 🎥 of which all were NOT Blockbusters! Where are his critics?!? Many Blacks criticized Oprah when she had her talk show but rarely did you find people criticizing Jerry Springer, Maury, Sally Jesse Raphael, etc!!!😳😳😳🥴🥴 You rarely hear Italians, criticizing Martin Scorsese!! You don’t hear Jews criticizing Steven Spielberg!😳🥴 Rarely do you hear of East Coast Rockers, Bon Jovi beefing with Rockers from the West Coast, like Red Hot Chili Peppers! A lot of you all need to be DECONSTRUCTED AND DECOLONIZED in your mind!! You have the Stephen from Django mindset!!!😳🥴😳🥴 Not to say anyone is above criticism but we, BLACK PEOPLE, are truly notorious for condemning and criticizing our own. Just ridiculous!! Everyone is watching and they take their cue by how we treat each other!!! Does anyone truly believe Publicly Criticizing Tyler Perry is effective or positive!! If you don’t like his movies 🎥 don’t watch!! Black people are NOT a monolith!! Let’s tell another story. I will always appreciate what he’s done for the community. But he’s not a true artist. He’s not creative, just prolific. Creativity is diverse. And STOP using your anointing like a shield!! Just because God put you in a position of leadership and massive influence doesn’t mean you are above reproach or criticism. Tyler convincing people that he's not a high brow negro just because he was poor TWO AND A HALF DECADES AGO is such a huge finesse. Tyler doesnt know the stories of regular Black people because he isnt one, nor does he converse with them. I think he makes the same movie 100x so that he can continue to talk down to his fanbase. Half of his Madea movies are didactic sermons and the other half is old boomer humor. He wouldnt be getting these critiques if he helped fund good, layered and boundary pushing Black projects like he said he would years ago (the first time he got dragged for not having a writers room).

If people dont like his work they dont like it. He doesnt get to dictate to us what we should like or accept. In the same spirit tho, hes shown us who he is. TP wants black women to settle for broke men with no ambition or direction. He also wants us to accept gay and bisexual, effeminate men as partners. This is unrealistic, ridiculous and disrespectful to me and every woman I know. We all had the same reaction to his antics. His work isn’t quality material. I don’t want to see his same old, bad writing, low budget, stereotype filled , redundant work. I automatically skip everything he makes because I already know what it is and I don’t like it. And I’m not saying don’t tell poor people’s stories, that’s fine just tell it BETTER and also tell other stories. And don’t write everything yourself!

Why are people so willing to give Tyler Perry a pass for putting out subpar work just because he hires Black actors and he’s rich? Hiring Black actors does not mean you can’t also make quality work. People need to stop acting like TP is above criticism just because he’s successful. Shonda Rhimes is a successful Black writer with her own production company and employs plenty of Black actors and directors. Difference is Shonda cares about her craft. She’s hired Debbie Allen to direct a lot of her shows. She’s hired a lot of Black actors. Even Columbus Short said Shonda gave him several chances to get his drug problem under control and only fired him when she had no choice. The same people falling over TP wouldn’t do the same for Shonda.

He could’ve kept the “high brow” comment, but his dismissiveness doesn’t surprise me. I honestly think the movies most would agree were of good quality were when he was Lionsgate. I’ve noticed that the quality dropped when he was no longer held to the standards of the larger entities he was in partnership with. Ultimately, we all know what to expect with his movies and we have the choice to watch it or not. Whether we like it or not, everyone doesn’t create for the beauty of creation. Some solely create for profit. Tyler is doing what makes financial sense to him, he’s not concerned about art anymore. It is what it is.

He's said in the past that he tried using other Black writers, and his fans didn't like it... I don't know who these fans were, but I couldn't tell the difference. Even with Sistas, there's another writer, but the writing is still lackluster and so are the story lines. He has an ever growing number of characters on all of his shows which is great for the actors, but he rarely takes the time to complete their story lines, so scenes become muddled and contradictory. "Quality over Quantity" should be plastered in every room in his houses and studios as a daily reminder because I'm getting to the point that I won't be able to support him "just because" for much longer.

Tyler knows his audience and his formula seems to be working out very well for everyone involved. Chasing validation from the elites isn't guaranteed to work out. There are many black movie producers who produce award worthy work, but have yet to find the financial success of Tyler; success that allows him to pay it forward in big meaningful ways. Plus, if every other race can advance in life with mediocre artistry why can't we allow Tyler to as well? This notion that we always have to be the best is not only extremely stressful, but it's also proving to not be very profitable.
