I always knew he was gay. The problem with this is that he portrays himself as a straight man and he appeals to the Christian community. Many Christians would not support him if they knew this and he knows this, which is why he won't openly admit that he is gay.

Once again, you're on point. Most of us, especially a gay man or a hag knows a gay man when they see one. I spent time in ATL and worked at the popular and celebrity magnet restaurant, Houston's. Mr. Perry came into the restaurant with a woman and they appeared to be "on a date" (probably his current girlfriend). I seen through all that Maybelline though honey. Tyler walked like a diva on the runway, he was trying to hide it but those legs were going up high love. He was so fem! Couldn't hide it. And anyone who doesn't see Tyler is gay is crazy and he's crazy for thinking no one knows it.

I think of it like this, If I go to work everyday and receive a paycheck for doing my job is anyone else entitled to it? No. Just because he makes millions doesn't mean he has to share it. Writing plays and acting is still his job, even if it's making him a lot of money. I know that Tyler does a lot of philanthropic work, and just because it isn't exclusively to the black gay community doesn't negate the kindness in his giving. On the other hand, if he knows for a fact that members of the black gay community have been his biggest supporters, it would be a kind gesture to give back to those who were once there for him. This can't be forced though, and I don't think anyone should be outed. That's personal.

Like most of us I already suspected that Tyler Perry was gay years ago back when he was just starting off. When he started becoming more mainstream after he made the jump from plays to movies more and more people started suspecting that he was gay. Well what confirmed it for me was back around 2009 or 2010 Tyler did an interview on Entertainment Tonight. The interviewer asked him who was his idol? The moment he answered (without hesitation) DIANA ROSS it was confirmed!! There isn't a straight man that would say Diana Ross is their idol. A straight Black man might name someone like Barack Obama, Michael Jordan, maybe their own father or someone else along those lines. But the moment he said Diana Ross I thought to myself well damn he might as well just come on out and admit it because only queens ((of a certain age)) idolizes Diana Ross.

I remember listening to the local Urban radio in Jackson, MS back in ‘99 or 2000 and they were interviewing this guy I had never heard of named Tyler Perry. He was promoting his play that they were going to put on at the local convention center. The main thing that stood out to me was who is this extra flamboyant gay guy talking loud and fast. I mean it was OBVIOUS. I just assumed it was a known fact that dude was gay. Then when his movies started coming out that he was staring in...I was confused. His high pitch, flamboyant voice was replaced by this deep voice guy that tries to come across as straight. I’m a tolerant and compassionate person...just be you Tyler...live your truth man.

Everyone is not blessed to be a football player, a movie producer, etc., etc. I do understand what you are talking about when people make it, and the thing of giving back to the community. Many do and many don't, but that is their choice. They would be broke if everyone had their hands out. That is what is wrong with our people now. Welfare mentality! Always thinking that someone should give us this and that. I can understand what you are saying but then again I can't understand why you are saying it! When you said that you are not religious and that you didn't grow up in the church, that explains it all! To be told that you are wrong, that you are going to Hell, a place of torment, damnation, and complete separation from the loving God that you are told about, experience and believe in would cause even you to deny that you are gay, yes you, the out and proud,the one who never had to hide your identity, your truth to anyone at any time. As a gay man you more than anyone should know the power it takes and you gain within yourself from coming out, at one point you had to tell your family, friends, etc that you were a gay man. That was your right and no one took that away from you, why would you post this and take that away from this man....if he is gay. Walter Lee Hampton II, as a gay white male, I've got to tell you how inspired I am by this video. I'm 64, and I've been fighting the good fight for gay rights and equal rights for ALL human beings since I was 20. I have some big, fat issues with Tyler Perry as well, and not just because he denies his gayness, as if there's something inherently wrong with being gay. He claims to have been a good friend to Whitney Houston, but true charity is anonymous, which means that you don't have an interview with Oprah (another big-time closeted fraud) talking about how you tried to help her over the years, and flew her body in your private plane from L.A. to New Jersey. Then he went on Houston's televised funeral service, that was going to be watched by millions on cable television, because it was terrific free PR so that everyone, black and white, will praise Tyler Perry for his goodness . But that's extraneous to the topic at hand. I have a serious problem with anybody who has lived a gay life in the gay community on a daily basis, and then turns their back on that gay community when the money starts rolling in. Too many performers, black, white, and every other shade have done the same thing. When are we going to stand together, shoulder to shoulder, brother to brother ad sister to sister, and tell the world we are proud to be who we are? I had a guy friend who I had a huge crush on, he loved to watch tyler Perry and got me watch all his plays n movies.....well several months before my friend died from cancer i found out he was secretly gay. I never got the chance for us to talk abt it he died suddenly. It hurts me that i knew him for 12yrs and he kept that from me. Me not knowing for sure if Tyler's gay or not or him keeping that a secret really bothers me. One thing I have learned is that i or we people as a whole needs to stop being so judgmental and that would allow ppl to be more open abt their sexuality.

I used my instincts with this one. What you've said resonated as true to me all the way in my gut. Something is off with Tyler Perry. You can tell by the way he portrays gay characters flouncing around in film if he bothers to show gays at all. What you've said is everything I've always thought but never said. The issue is deeper than him, and it irritates me also. I have friends in denial also. It hurts me and the friend and everyone around you when you don't live in truth, imho.
