and the anti cheat sounds good until you realize how it works, it is constantly scanning all of your files on your pc also causing your pc to slow down, and have seen what happens with other games when "bad" people get ahold of it. its effectively a rat in your pc allowing them to do literally anything with your pc.

I get the concern and I agree it is not the most ideal circumstances. But you can quite literally disable it when you are done with league. Aka disable on startup and just end process in Task Manager and voila it is gone until you start league. The slowdown could be an issue on very old machines, but on any decent modern PC it will have negligible impact. Should be noted that a lot of games use root kit anticheat. So riot ain't a special case.

I wish they kept quiet about the anti cheat instead of talk about it at length that they have a cheating problem - they've had a scripter problem for a very long time now, and it exists at every elo, and then you get players saying "Who would script in X elo?!" Lots of people would for lots of different reasons is the truth. Even high ranking scripters want to see if they can get away with it, and they do; which allows them to bring more accounts to a higher rank and have more control of the ladder at any given rank. - the ladders been sold for more than 10 years now. Basically I wish Riot said nothing and then just banned 90% of the cheaters after a month. There are SO many non natural boosted players - it's been like this for10 years.

I'll write you why smb might not want Vanguard: 1) Can't play LoL on Linux 2) If you have old PC you might lose too much resources to run Vanguard and low fps in LoL 3) Can brick your PC cause of bugs (it happens, you might be unlucky) 4) Extra gate for breaching security. If smb hacks Riot and their Vanguard you might lose computer for some time (encrypted everything, or anything hardest malware could do) 5) Lots of ppl if they can play on company computer they won't be allowed to install kernel lvl programs, cause its blocked. 6) Can't run on Virtual machine 7) No custom skins, you will end with ban 8) If they won't change/white list, skins spotlight will be doomed in LoL and will move to next game 9) Vanguard scans your files all time 24/7 when you have switched on PC. It slows down computer even if you're not playing but forgot to "switch it off" 10) You can't be sure you switched off Vanguard. It's kernel lvl program and can have processes which aren't showed in task manager. 11) You can be banned by mistake by Vanguard or another anticheat at another game. Ppl had these situations. 12) It doesn't work 100% perfect so still cheaters. Lobby crash cheat could be resolved by changing client. 13) Remember, Riot got hacked this year and had part of code stolen. And you trust them your whole PC with everything on it. When they couldn't get working properly client for 14 years and had breached security :| 14) Some ppl are concerned that Tencent has 90+% own rights over Riot so don't trust Chinese company "we don't save (cause Vanguard scans everything) your data"
