TLDR as a med student going into neurosurgery: “do we not have enough doctors in the world?” In the world we do, but not in the US, the country tries to import doctors from other countries but it’s still not enough. One. of the main reasons being how absurdly overpriced school is in the US. In most first world countries you GET PAID to go to college, not the other way around.

It's not even that. I'm an ER physician and the main thing is that primary care doesn't exist. The people who can afford it are usually healthier to begin with and the ones who can't are the ones who REALLY need it. The ER just becomes the default primary care doctor for a ton of the population and we are getting absolutely swamped which is exactly why Tyler's wait time was so damn long. 3 hours is normal. I do not want the government to be in charge of healthcare, but Medicaid and Medicare should both cover 1 free Primary Care visit per year and they should heavily push for it. So many chronic problems would be caught earlier before they became severe enough to have to go to the ER. Also, you better REALLY want neurosurgery if you choose to go into that; that's an 8 year residency in addition to your 4 years of med school before you even get to be an attending lol.

the reason why ER wait is so long, is because many people dont have primary care doctors. Theres a primary doctor shortage in general. Many ER visits are actually just routine visits or could have been prevented if preventative care wasnt so unreasonable in this country

We haven't been getting outros, we haven't been getting more than one or two games, we've barely been getting intros, we didn't get any actually good elden ring videos besides one (which to be fair that was a lot of footage but could've shown us some cooler boss fights and not the final boss of dlc at the beginning of some random video), and the games themselves aren't even that great (although t1 has been doing some shorter streams so there is a smaller pool of games to choose from). I get not putting out a banger every day, but like what are the editors doing exactly aside from just picking a game or two and putting in some cuts?

It really depends on where you are. I've gone to the ER in multiple cities and I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes. There are definitely a lot of places that have incompetent staff that's for sure, and that is healthcare in general. It's common to have poor service from everyone, but the doctors from my experience

Going to the emergency room is so nerve racking as a parent. Yeah I will do anything for my child, even go bankrupt for them, but the hospital bill really shouldn't cost that much. Literally nothing they charge is worth what they say it is, I would guess it really should be half the cost, and they would still be fine. The rule I go by for throwing up is if my kid isn't crying after throwing up then we don't need to go to the doctor.

Hospitals are money printing machines backed by big pharma, bureaucrats, and POS insurance companies who don't care for you. They are allowed to do these things. ​@@SkipperN10 yeah except triage exists for those who need urgent care(free btw). i live downtown in a city, waited 8hrs for potentially broken/fractured ankle, but I paid nothing, and left. much rather that than paying thousands just to wait 6 hours, only for them to give you a $200 tylenol $300 bandaid and make you sign a waiver to leave so they're not liable for anything. thats the kicker in the USA. wait times are low because the hospital has no doctors discharging patients, so everyone signs and leaves which definitely reduces wait times - it just increases death, injury.

in healthcare ed, graduating next decemeber. youre right tt americas healthcare is in shambles, hopefully one day i can help do something to improve it somehow. tbf that may be how crowded er's work somtimes, the load is ridiculous here too. there specifically (which you got at) is a shortage of Primary Care Physicians. You need to become a family doctor if you become one. everyone wants to be a physical or occupational therapist or some other specialty that people don't actually need as many of, AND are more expensive. that's why the ER is the only option for some people even for basic issues

The problem is two-fold.. First up being the liability of being a doctor is wild. The insurance costs as much as a down payment on a nice house...per year. Second is that youre at the complete mercy, in almost every aspect of your life, of the hospital you work at as interns dont get a lot of choice as to where to intern and you MUST complete an internship somewhere. Thirdly, and on the other side, you have a large portion of the population using the ER as a normal doctor visit. Many of them do not have insurance. Many of them dont have an education past 6th grade. They dont have a relationship with a family doctor. All that combines to floor ER visit wait times. Last time i was at the ER was in the 90s; I saw a doctor in no more than 30 minutes...as the injury wasnt life threatening. Out the door in under 90 minutes. Nowadays your lucky to talk with a nurse in 30 minutes.
