A hundred years ago I ran a 750 vac secondary with a tiny spring and the check ball removed. I had a light on my cowl that came on when a contact touched the secondary linkage when it was wide open.

@@TPVPRO Exactly. There isn't any way to know if and when the secondaries are all the way open without an indicator.

Whats up Tyler. I just got my Karl Ellwein 383 in my 92 S10. Breaking in the engine then headed to the track for some test & tune.

Is it a gen1 or 2?

@@TPVPRO Was originally an early ZZ4 Crate engine w/ early factory roller block and 1 piece rear main. I had Karl rebuild it as a 383. All forged & balanced rotating assembly, 11:1 compression, AFR heads. Its roughly a 500 hp 500 tq . Build. He built a 406 for me a few years ago and you were there for the dyno run. I liked the 406 so much I asked him to build this 383 for my S10 I plan to drive on the street and also do some weekend bracket racing maybe. I have the 383 mated to a Hughes 3000 stall conv. TH400, and Ford 8.8 rear with Caltracs and Drag radials. Still breaking in the engine but the truck feels really strong.

4150 w/out a choke, when I first fire it up AFR is 16.5-17 after engine warms up goes to 14.2. Is this a normal AFR for start up?

Is it safe to swap between 85 carb and a carb for pump gas? Sorry still learning all this
@TPVPRO3 ай бұрын
You need to upgrade your fuel system to PTFE fuel lines E85 pump and a plastic fuel cell without foam in it. Even the carb fuel lines need to be PTFE. If you do all that you won't have an issue. Just don't let the fuel sit for over a couple of weeks. Plus you need to have all the gas out the system when you swap to E85 because it needs 30% more fuel than gas. Only EFI with the flex fuel system can you mix the two.
