You realise that the Greco-Persian wars continued for a few years after that? Towns were sacked, 1000s of people were killed and it eventually caused tension between Sparta and Athens which ultimately lead to the Peloponnesian Wars in which even more people were killed and the totalitarian rain of Sparta controlling the majority of Greece ended up leading to Sparta's downfall. The story behind it in which one could say is "beautiful" is that the Spartan's actions, along with the 1000s of Greeks who fought beside them, lead to our western world today. That battle didn't win the war, Thermopylae inspired every Greek city-state to fight back. The Persian Empire remained standing for nearly 500 years long after the Spartan society died out... It's tragic, but I can understand why you'd call it beautiful too.

But above all this is truly a beautiful song. I think we can all agree that it bears the very core of the complex and unique Balkan soul. We, Balkan nations, like to state how different we are from one another, but in the essential part, we all share the same thing - SOUL/DUŠA/ДУША. And this song depicts it perfectly and simply. That's why it's loved by so many. Greetings from Serbia.

The melody of the song originated probably in the 16th and 17th centuries. Before the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule, on the basis of this melody are singing several town and pub songs with different texts, as well as the folk song "Bride goes, a bride walks through a green forest. As he walks, he walks screaming. " The text of the contemporary version of the song is found in the collection of folk (or authorship) songs and poems "New song", compiled by Lyuben Karavelov and published by the editorial office of Znanie in 1878 in Veliko Tarnovo. The first verse is taken from the poem "Collect, Girls, Bride (Vassil Levski)" and the second and third from the folk song "Bride Goes Through a Green Forest". In the Republic of Macedonia the modern version of the song is arranged by the composer and performer of folk songs Alexander Sarievsky, which often leads to controversy over the origin of the song. He says the following: "The song" Go, Go, Clear Sonnet "was created following the folk" Chernei Goro, Chernai Sister ". Listening to and singing this song sometimes, I have come up with the idea of doing something similar in content, but with a very different melody. So, I sang the song, which was very popular everywhere I sang it. This song means a lot to me, because many people who have been involved with folk music, but most of all with the greatest importance, have accepted it. Whenever I performed it somewhere, I think everyone present was expecting me to sing this song. Quote by Wikipedia. Stop saying that song Zajdi, zajdi, jasno sonce is Macedonian. This song is BULGARIAN

Mr Bates was fair by mentioning his source of inspiration. He shared: "As the composer of the music titled 'Message For The Queen', I would like to make it clear that while the introduction expresses the woodwind melody present in many recorded versions of the song "Zajdi, Zajdi Jasno Slance", this music is equally based on Bulgarian traditional folk music." I am proud that he used our Bulgarian song as an inspiration. Thank you, Mr. Bates! Great work, Sir! Kind regards, Ana

''Tomorrow, dawn time, we will yield our shields and, with spears in hands, our battle chants will be echoed through every step of ours as we attack the hordes of the barbarians. I will be advancing, shoulder to shoulder, keeping my place in the tight phalanx formation, feeling the heat of the sunlight, the smell of the iron, the sweat of the men, and I will be well aware that this is the last time I do so. My spear will be covered in blood and it will kill ten barbarians, or a hundred, or a thousand, but this will be barely useful, because my belly will be full of holes by the enemy spears and I will die. For Sparta. However, I am not dying only for the freedom of the Hellenes (Greeks) , neither for justice or law, not even Sparta alone. I will die because I will never see myself a slave, dragging my slavery's chains across the deserts of the Middle East. I will die to avenge Agesilaus, my friend, whose dead body I saw yesterday, pierced by an eastern arrow. I will die together with Aghilohos, who has covered my side with his shield in ten battles, and tomorrow he will be doing so for the last time. I will die for Leonidas, who is leading us to death, but who first taught us how to become men, and we are grateful. So, tomorrow, as the night will fall, our king Leonidas' kings-guard will be just a mass of dead bodies, then a pile of bones, and then nothing. Maybe someday, when Sparta's name will be forgotten, but also the massive empire of the king of kings (Xerxes) will fall into nothingness, someone will remember our sacrifice and see that with our death we became brave, fearless, loyal, and everything we couldn't just achieve while being alive. And this someone will say: 'The Spartans of king Leonidas' kings-guard died many years ago, but their memories are immortal and timeless'. This is the way it is going to be, and if someone disagrees, he deserves to die!'' ~ One of the 300, an actual ancient documentation.

("Set, Set, O Clear Sun"; Macedonian: Зајди, зајди, јасно сонце) is a newly composed Macedonian folk song written and composed by Aleksandar Sarievski. The song was written and composed by Macedonian singer-songwriter Aleksandar Sarievski in the style of newly composed folk. Though Sarievski composed the melody, he did acknowledge that the text of Zajdi, zajdi was adapted from another source, saying: The song Zajdi, zajdi, jasno sonce emerged from the folk song Černej, goro, černej, sestro. In listening to that song and occasionally singing it, I came up with the idea to make something similar in terms of content, but with a completely different melody. So, I gradually began to sing the song, which would soon after become very popular everywhere I sung it. That song means a lot to me because it was received well by many individuals interested in folk music, but above all it means a lot to me because it was accepted by the people. Every time I'd go somewhere I think everyone present expected me to sing it.

Zdenko Petrovski Originally the melody is a pure bulgarian folklore, but the lyrics and the performing is different for each Balkan country-Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia etc. So with all respect to you, don't call it macedonian, because its not. Its a bulgarian

This is a Bulgarian folk song, Zaidi Zaidi yasno slunce, dating back to the 16-17th centuries, the new texts and versions, mainly those of Monkeydonia, were based off those featured in the “Nova Pesnopoika” songbook, compiled by Lyuben Karavelov and published in the newspaper Znaniye in Veliko Turnovo, 1878. 🇧🇬

You are very funny, Bulgarians are slavic structured Turkish people, I want you to learn and speak history, but Macedonians were always Slavs, don't be nationalist here, learn your history first. I am both Macedonian and Turkish, I know both history, I recommend it to you 🇲🇰🇲🇰🇲🇰🇲🇰🇲🇰

@@eslemche4915You absolutely know nothing, there is no such thing as “Slavic”. Slavic was created in the 12th century to group all those who adapted to Old Bulgarian dialects. Bulgarians never had anything to do with Turkish people, archeological, scientifical, linguistical, and historical evidence shows Proto-Bulgarians were never Turkic.

Original song is Bulgarian. It's name is "Crnej goro, crnej sestro". Macedonian "Zajdi, zajdi" is based on "Crnej goro, crnej sestro". Both songs are beautiful, just like they countries of origin :)) I suppose ethno songs from Balkan are interesting to other countries in the world because they are so special and unknown to them. :) Greetings from Serbia! :-***

Other lines are also comparable to those from Lyuben Karavelov's collection of folk songs and poems published in 1878.[9]
