@@lunchbreak1792nah I think that guy messed up his knee
@colinkelly5416 Жыл бұрын
I’m the purple belt in the video. The knee pop ended up not being serious. I was able to roll by the end of the trip. The roll with Tyler was fun. I had one goal in mind, and that was to not get guillotined. It didn’t go as planned. He ran a class on the trip where he showed some guillotine details that were really effective. If you get a chance to train or roll with Tyler, take it. Was a good guy on the trip and was really good with details that can help your game.

In the immortal words of Tyler. “He allows me to get on top so I can finish off another man.” Tyler, you are insatiable! 😂
@coffeeortea547 Жыл бұрын
Can you make a video on like what goes through your mind when you chain guard pass attempts together. Like in 0:28, when you switch directions, what do you focus on to ensure your hip beats his knee?
@TylerSpangler Жыл бұрын
I’ll try to do that or just to improve in generally on commentary. For that specific pass, my actual instinct is to throw my hips far enough so I can grab the head and the guillotine will do the rest. You’ll notice during that pass my left hand makes a fist, connects to the ground, and blocks the hip. While it isn’t guaranteed to pass just because you establish this control, it is an easy way to limit his movement while I still have plenty of mobility
@coffeeortea547 Жыл бұрын
@@TylerSpangler Thank you! It's really helpful to get an idea of what goes through your head as you read each position. Your commentary is great as always, it's probably just the case that I have to put in a lot more time on the mats to develop passing sense and instinct.

When someone gets injured during I'd make them sit out a round. Yes people are supposed to know their body but adrenaline, ego, camera etc. - give him time for pain to kick in and then continue - I'm sure you'd have had a willing partner quickly and could come back later. -- Though guess for me safety is high priority, guess it depends a bit on the gym's culture as well... could be taken as micromanagement or such. Hm.
