Great vid, I grew up 4WDing in Sundown, that first dry creek trail we opened in the late 80's and where you camped is the back of Rats Castle and I've seen a foot deep of water flowing through there! Can't wait to go back.
@craigtownsend31496 ай бұрын
That track was opened before you in the 80s good sir the welsh brothers made that track in the early 1940s with horses.. you are indeed correct that it is on top of rats only a short drive down from Mick's Hill the end hill there is a tree marked buy 1 side delimd it's Mt track to my brothers final resting place.. my great great grandfather and his brothers owned a lot of the land before it was sundown and was all mingoola nundub station

@@craigtownsend3149 Great piece of history, thankyou for the info... I should have been more specific sorry, we did not build this track. We were hiking through here and found the track, we came back and opened it up so we could drive it point to point... was overgrown and trees down in sections and no obvious track from the river end. Did you ever know of the track that went full north to the south of the park? This is another track that intrigued me, we had permission from the ranger at the time to explore it but couldn't really find any information about it and its alignment. This was over 20yrs ago now... definitely a missed opportunity.
@craigtownsend31496 ай бұрын
I have Indeed herd of it if also been part of a group who have travelled this track brings you out near teaxas end of sundown.. you go down to the hell hole then kind of follow the creek down towards the old turtle hole then from memory we went right instead of to the waterhole and we just followed the river Thu

Hey great video of sundown. I grew up in this area and that was our play pen for 4wding. So the tracks do have names. The first big hill the one TJ winched is call 'The Shoot'. Where you camped the second night was at 'Rats Castle'. Then you climb the hill track called 'Pine tree track'. Then the gnarly crossing is called 'Rats Crossing'.

Epic video. Well done for going off the beaten track that's what it's all about. Had all your camps to yourselves and some tough tracks too. Epic! The way TJs canopy flexes and shakes when he is doing obstacles seems a little worrying tho lol hope it's meant to be like that.

As always, nice video capturing the best of the east coast Tyler. One suggestion, have you considered looking into transfer reductions on the patrol? I found they made as big a difference off-road as putting lockers on did, I had much better traction (forward momentum) and throttle control - the wheel didn't want to spin on each throttle input. I believe the Nav had good reductions ~ 44:1 but the patrol is only at 25:1 in 1st low. Just a thought if you haven't considered yet.

Yeah I did some questionnaires on social media a week or so back as I was deciding whether to do them or not and about 75-80% were in favour of them so that's why we did them. But yeah still trying to work it out and find the balance. Cheers!
